Aching teeth

Hello all

I wonder if anyone gets all sorts of pains, aches in teeth? I mentioned to an OT from local ME service ( although future of this is uncertain) and she says she’s not heard of it but could be due to central nervous system.

I have always had sensitive teeth but last few months it’s been getting me down.

I have got a dental check up soon but I think he will say he can’t see anything and it would always be a specific tooth

Symptoms move around the mouth. Sometimes a general tight tense pressure, feeling as I’ve had a dental trauma, deep yearning painful throbbing in certain teeth .... all sorts.

I’m almost sure it’s not due to teeth grinding as that’s a common cause.

Have wondered about stress but aren’t anymore stressed now than normal!

Anyway .... would love to know if it’s something that is common in ME as don’t want unnecessary deep dental excavation just to see .

Other thing is ... am wondering if it’s due to inflammation generally and my teeth are a vulnerable area for pain?

Thanks for reading. Xx

Yes I get this. I have ME but also have acid reflux which makes my tongue and gums and teeth sting/burn. I also clench my teeth in the night which gives me a headache and jaw/teeth pain. I do find that if I wear a mouth guard at night (made by the dentist)for just a couple of nights it usually stops it for a while. I think it’s getting out of the habit. I don’t clench my teeth during the day.

Have been to dentists now and he diagnosed it as facial neuralgia and said it wasn’t to do with teeth. I guess it’s all connected with pain receptors and my general state!
