I'm not a medical person but in my experience there could be any number of reasons for a request for retest. It could be a mix up at the lab, a problem with the original sample, a borderline result that requires checking before diagnosis confirmation or any number of medical reasons I am not aware of.

Personally at this stage I wouldn't worry. I would just go for the retest and if no one tells you just ask the nurse or doctor why they want to do the sample again. If you are B12 anaemic then you will probably be given a course of B12 injections and maybe some advice on diet. I've had this issue twice myself (and iron deficiency anaemia twice as well) but it was some time ago so I can't quite remember everything I was told. I think B12 is the one where you can only increase your level with the injections but your medical team should explain all that to you.

Like I said I wouldn't worry until you find out if there is actually anything to worry about.

It may be abnormal and he wants to recheck it. If it is low then you can get injections and may feel a lot better.
