Summer Depression

I should be getting a break from the winter blues...but as the title suggests, I'm not.

No plans, no vacations, no beach trips (haven't had any in years) ...It all stems from me not having a job or much work history, all thanks to debilitation anxiety and depression...and me not wanting to do some menial, boring, job that doesnt pay enough to live on anyway

Waiting on my appeal to receive SSDI which I know they took delivery of, back in March!...My world class therapist wrote an amazing letter on my behalf, and Im hopeful they decide in my favor. Im not sure what kind of downward spiral Im headed for if denied. I cant believe its about to be 5 months. Dont they know what we go through during this lengthy wait?

(Is 'backpay' a thing, do they offer up some type of hefty sum of money for the months since originally applying?)

Thanks all!

Hello midnight coffee,. ( Love the name ) yes they will pay for prior months ( retroactive pay). Me and my wife were homeless at the time waiting for SSDI just to send her First payment. I had to call the social security office every other day to ask them what the hold- up was? I ended up having to get right down to a one on one, " I'm starving and cold" have a heart conversation with whoever answered the phone. It worked because over the weekend and come Monday morning the money was on my wife's bank card. You HAVE TO be persistent with them or it seems they forget about you. I wish you good luck.

Appreciate you sharing that story and the great advice!

Ive been holding back on calling, trying not to be a pest for fear of them denying me again...but I think its time to call!
