πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡ Just over six weeks to go until our next virtual run - HU Spring 2025 !!!πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡

⭐ The main event will take place on on Sunday 27th April at 9.00am ⭐

(but: for flexibility, we will also accept runs at any time on Sunday 27th April or at any point during the following week of Mon 28th April - Sun 4th May).

Have you signed up yet? If not. then what are you waiting for? It’s not too late and you can run or walk the distance!

We've already added lots of names to the first page of our event spreadsheet, based on your earlier replies, but please do check we've got you down for the right distance.

If there are any changes or corrections, just let me know in the replies below.

If you're not signed up yet, it's not too late to join in !!! Just comment below ⬇️

⭐ Choose your distance: 10k, 10 miles (16.1k), HM (21.1k), Metric Marathon (26.2k) or the Full Marathon (42.2k) ⭐

β˜… Lots of distances to choose from this time!

β˜… It's up to you whether you use this as motivation to push a little further, or to achieve a goal pace or time; or whether you treat it as a relaxed, fun run.

β˜… Whatever you decide, it's a great opportunity for our community to come together and run together

⭐ Event start list⭐

We have put together a list of who has 'entered' already (bearing in mind that there will be no fee to change at any point and no refund if you need to pull out!); you can find it on the first page of the event spreadsheet here: docs.google.com/spreadsheet...

⭐ Strava club ⭐

For previous HU events we have set up a completely optional strava club which always proved very popular. The club for this event is now live: HUspring2025.

Joining the Strava club is certainly not essential in order to take part in this HU event. However, if you already use Strava (or fancy giving it a try) you may like to join the club so we can follow each other and add our support and encouragement to each other’s activities (not to mention throw around some extra kudos).

Along with many others, I found the club camaraderie especially useful during my first HM training - it’s great to see how people are getting on and to share experiences on a run by run basis.

So, if you’re on Strava, and would like to be part of the club, send us a 'request to join' using this link: strava.com/clubs/HUspring25

We will only accept people we recognise from HU; if your HU name and your Strava name are very different, could you please message me using HU private chat to let me know who you are on Strava (or add a comment to this post letting me know you've submitted a request to join) so that I don’t ignore you thinking you are an outsider!!!

I have also added a β€˜who’s who?’ post to the Strava club; once you’ve been accepted into the group, do add a comment to let everyone in the club know your HU alter ego if it isn’t obvious. We can then follow each other and spread the kudos!

⭐ Event playlist🎢🎧⭐

We aim to put together a music playlist (on Spotify) and it’s now time to tell us what inspires you. What keeps you going or even gets you started? What gets you up that hill? We want to know your most inspirational music, the more tracks the merrier! Let us know the artist and title and any special version information, if applicable.

Your suggested tracks will be added to the event spreadsheet (page 2) so you can see what you’ll be running or walking to on the day 🎢 Nearer the time we'll give you a link to the playlist itself.

So, get thinking and give us your best βοΈπŸŽΆπŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒπŸŽΊ Get your choices added now by commenting below!

⭐ Race bibs ⭐

As in previous years, we will create race bibs for you to print at home if you wish to.

⭐ Finally, we will of course have a winner! ⭐

In the past, the winner has been the person who completed their run in the time closest to our randomly generated time (after the event closes). Just remember there is absolutely no requirement to run fast to win this event! πŸŒπŸ†Do let us know if you have a more creative suggestion!

⭐ We hope you’ll be eager to join in (and help make this another great one)⭐

As always, this event is of course entirely free to enter and yet again, there are no t-shirts, socks, aid stations or toilet queues! No training plans or routes will be supplied! Instead, a unique HU experience, run your way 😍

⭐ Keep the comments coming!⭐

Do let us know how you’re feeling about your runs and how you’re getting on, either via our weekly chat post or in your own posts.

Have fun, take care, enjoy your runs and happy training everyone 😍

Your Team Β Β Irishprincess , Β Β Beachcomber66 and me xxx

Thanks linda9389

I think I was in but distance was TBC. I'm still not 100%, whether it will be the HM or Metric. Will know nearer the time. Thanks to you & the team for organising.

I've added you to the list for the Half Marathon for now. Would love for you to go for the Metric if the time proves right - just let us know and we'll change it πŸ˜‰ And welcome to the strava club too πŸ₯°

10k for me please! If I have a miraculous recovery from my stupid chest infection, I’ll step up to ten miles but for now, I’ll be sensible and take it steady.

Thanks so much for organising us!

I've added you to the list MissU πŸ₯° Definitely better to play safe until you feeling better. Take care and ... see you on the start line 😍

I will be in for 10k linda9389 . I will be increasing distance with the warmer weather but unsure if I will be at 10 miles by then.

Gotcha. No problems upping to 10 mile shift you change your mind. Just over 6 weeks to add a kilometre a week perhaps? See how you go 😊

Let's see if I'm good for the Half Marathon by the end of April.

The leg's feeling better now and I've done a couple of 10km runs on it without incident.

The most important thing I've learned over the last five years of running is when not to run.

Given we've now got the shiny new 20 miles badge, I'm surprised that that's not one of the available targets.

linda9389AdministratorMarathonβ€’ in reply tonowster

Great news that you got to the bottom of your niggle and fixed it. I'll put you down for the HM. I'd started the spreadsheet before we created the twenty mile badge, but itsa good idea ... maybe an autumn target, unless anyone specifically wants to try it now? ....See you on the start line 😊

Thank you linda9389 . What. On. Earth. Have. I. Signed. Up. For? 🀣🀣🀣 But I will do it by hook or by crook. A flat prom, and with any luck warm (not too warm) and calm conditions. 🀞

The badge will be mine. πŸ™πŸ˜…

You’ve done a lot of work on this Linda, you're a star ⭐️ Thanks for doing it all.

A MM is very tempting but I doubt I have enough time. Put me down for HM and I’ll see how it goes. I mean a HM plan. usually jumps from 10 to 13 miles in one go so maybe a MM could work on a similar approach 😳

I haven’t got a race on the horizon and I’m not training for anything specific at the minute so let’s seeβ€¦πŸ˜±

linda9389 profile image
linda9389AdministratorMarathonβ€’ in reply toIrishprincess

Maybe it's time to be brave IP? That'd make all three of us admins trying for the MM ... just saying ... you wouldn't want FOMO right? ... and then there's the badge too ... just saying ...

I'm working on a similar basis regarding distance. I think I'll do less long runs, but with bigger increments in distance. As I don't need to aim for anything other than an enjoyable pace, it seems more sensible to not overdo the mileage en route to the 26.2km. We'll see how that wisdom goes 😍😍

But for now, I'll add you for the half because I wouldn't want to twist anyone's arm πŸ₯°

You are such a bad influence! I love your logic but experience tells me that as soon as I commit to a longer distance the running gods throw a spanner in the works. I can see them now, sitting on a cloud and plotting 🀣🀣

linda9389 profile image
linda9389AdministratorMarathonβ€’ in reply toIrishprincess

I'll leave you at HM while you sit on your cloud and plot how to beat them at their own game 😍

Having done a MM before (once), I know it's going to take me over 3 hours to do. The time commitment is why I haven't been able to repeat it, even though I feel I ought to have done by now.

Thanks as ever for all of your work organising. Remind me, what planet was I on when I suggested that I might be able to complete MM? I think I need to research some flat routes !

Haha! A flat route and plenty of time in your day! You can do this. Again, think of the shiny new badge you will earn. We have it ready and waiting for you πŸ₯°
