As the race calendar starts to warm up (more than can be said of our temperatures here in the UK π) perhaps youβve been tempted to enter a race for the first time. Or, perhaps you have an event that you enter every year. Then again, maybe you just like races and bling and March is as good a time as any to get to that start line and grab the shiny stuff.
Whatever your reasons, your VRB support team here is just waiting to read all about it and get ready for the pompom call-out on the Friday before your event. Any distance, any location, everything is welcome here.
But first, we need to know the name of your event, the date and a link to the organiserβs website. Weβll put these details in a spreadsheet so that we can all see whatβs going on in March.
Iβll kick us off this month as I have a 10 mile race on 2nd March. Itβs a new race for me so Iβm looking forward to it. And the bling is so pretty π
Over to you now. Letβs go! The sap is rising and the bulbs are growing quickly through the soil so itβs definitely time to do some training and have some race fun π€

Cambridge Half Marathon, this year I am doing it in support of Break, the people who gave us the Cows About Cambridge, and Standing Tall (giraffes) installations. They support young people leaving institutional care
That was my first HM, one week before we were locked down for the first time. Nice route, but be prepared for the run over grass towards the end! And make sure you get your photo with Henry VIII π€΄ Good luck!
Ok. So. Having survived today, which was a minor miracle (and a whole other story, but definitelymust count as cross training) .. I am still hoping to run the Lisbon half marathon on 9th March. I saw a pic of the medal only this week and I LOVE it! Should get my first stamp on my Super Half passport too, all being well. Here's hoping I get to the start line (not sure why it feels so tentative ...) maratonaclubedeportugal.com...
The lure of the bling is strong Linda so I have no doubt youβll do everything you can to make sure youβre on the start line. And what a fabulous route too π
And now Iβm itching to know what your story isβ¦
Iβll be attempting the Brighton Half Marathon on 2nd March. Itβs my first HM and also my first ever race, not sure what to expect but Iβm really looking forward to it.
If you're interested in reading about this particular race, then search here and youβll see posts from others who have done it. It does sound a scenic route with a great atmosphere so Iβm sure youβll have lots of fun.
Keep an eye out on the Friday beforehand for your pom-poms π€
I'm running the Reading Half Marathon on 23 March. The second time for me as I did it last year - it's a great atmosphere and the bling is good! Raising money for Cancer Research UK. Good luck to all with races in March!
Iβve got a race in March but Iβm struggling with my ankle again.
Getting out to run has been curtailed by dog sitting, and having family staying over for half term. Two folks had coughs and flu symptoms and it seems Iβve got it now ππ€§. Drudgery, and not much else has taken place, but at least I was on my feet and going up and down stairs constantly. Probably why my ankle is rubbish π»
I had the dog back again yesterday π
I felt lousy yesterday and went to bed once Iβd taken the dog home. Coughing and spluttering and aching all over but I feel better this afto. Not fit to run though so Iβll head out tomorrow. I made a vat of chicken/veg soup which usually perks me up.
I had some bargain Nike Pegasus Shields delivered last week and Iβve not even looked at them. Theyβre still unopened. Iβll get them out to run tomorrow. I might go and tackle some hills to give my upper body something to do πββοΈ
I am hoping my painful ankle is just my usual pre-race angst π
