You may not be competing with the Olympic Marathon Gold Champion in February, but your races are just as important to us! Guarantee yourself a turbo charged start with shouts of encouragement and the warm blast of supportive Pom Poms waving from your HU running buddies worldwide; actual, virtual and otherwise!
Being a long way from home, preparing for a race, can be bit scary for the most experienced runners, especially if you are on your own. I have certainly felt it; you see muscled athletes with calves the size of giant Yorkshire puddings warming up and you can think “what am I doing here?”. So, we make sure that nobody need feel alone. Just reply to this post, giving the date, title of your run and, if you can, a hyperlink to your chosen run website, and we will stir up a horde of support to carry you through. It really works!🙂
Even if you feel that you will absolutely breeze your run, we always love to hear about it. What we enjoy most of all is reading everyone’s post run reports, how did it go? any drama? how was the organisation? would you run it again? You might inspire others to take part in the future. An added bonus is photographs; the sweet smile of success works wonders!
We will update our spreadsheet as we go along(view link below)so that everyone can see what is coming up each week
I’ll have to take it fairly slowly as my night vision is not good. Why I’m doing a night race still bewilders me 🤣 but it’s something different and I always like to try new things with my running.
Then I have the London Winter Run on 23rd February. I know of others who are doing this one too so it might well be a good ole VRB meet-up 🥰 The bling looks amazing so I had to try for one.
A night run! Ages since I did a proper night run! I am sure that it will be really organised and you will absolute love it. Following it up with a canter around London too; a perfect beginning to your 2025 programme.🙂
Hi Beachcomber66 could you put me down for the London Winter Run on 23rd February, please? I’m only running just over 5K at the moment, but with a bit of luck I’ll get up to 10K in time! 🏃♂️➡️🤞
I am sure that you will get there David, whether that is all run or run walk. Good early season work out with wonderful views; sounds like a great event. On the spreadsheet now so you are committed; and you will have excellent company 👍🙂
Hi BC, Not going mad in February but do have a couple of events:
16th February is the last Sausage run (Tempo Winter Series ). I've not done all 5 but am able (and have successfully got a place) for the last one so I can join the Kats for a drink in the pub afterwards. The hill and the sausages make it special as well.
23rd February I am joining my friends in another walking challenge. This time it is the Gloucestershire Way. I've not signed up to the whole route this time but plan to dip in on months when I am able to. In February we walk from Alvington through the Forest of Dean (about 9 miles). eventbrite.co.uk/e/gloucest...
2nd February is the date that I hope to finally complete walking the Cotswold Way, this 10 mile section between Dyrham and the outskirts of Bath has been eluding me since November (4 attempts have been cancelled for one reason or another). So praying for blue skies, gentle winds, reasonable temperatures and not too much mud.
Thanks Shakes; all captured. I think it might be hoodie time for the Kats! Looks like a pretty full schedule. Making you go uphill early in the sausage run is so considerate!😮💨
Hi Beachcomber66 , can you pop me down for the London Winter Run on 23/2 too please? Special for me as it would have been my mum’s 100th birthday. ❤️❤️❤️
Time to do some catching up. I’m sorry, I’ve been rubbish on here this year but I promise I will be better from now onwards 🙏
February…guess what… more races. Starting on 2nd Feb with the Warwick HM warwickhalf.com I’ve been avoiding this one for years as it’s ’undulating’. But I had my RunThrough vouchers and it ties in nicely with Manchester Marathon training, so I put my big girl pants on and I’ve bitten the bullet. No Katnap or Shakes this time either 😳
Two weeks later, it’s the last Winter Series run tempoevents.co.uk/events/wi... where we get the hoody as well as sausages. Part of the reason for my recent radio silence is my kitchen is being redone. Last lot of sausages went in the George Foreman grill…not too impressed with that, usually use it for salmon which it’s brilliant with. But tonight I used my new oven for the first time, so it will be toad once again 🥳 That one definitely includes Katnap and Shakes!
Lastly for Feb, Katnap and I will be at the London Winter 10k for the first time. londonwinterrun.co.uk I think there’s quite a few of us doing this one (just seen IP is doing it too!!! 🥳🥳) We’re escaping Stratford early for this one so we can get our parkrun ‘V’ the day before. There’s two in London so we may flip a coin…
Morning TC. Well, that filled up the spreadsheet!! Thanks, that is a busy February. Hills are character building as you know …not that you need it 🙂. A good “miles in the legs” month there!
It will be a relief to have your kitchen back, complete with shiny new oven. Fitting to have a Toad in the Hole finish to your tempo winter series too; nothing else will do, particularly for the final run of the series. I have given up on guessing hoodie colours….I think you finally got your purple on last year? Could be my imagination. Whatever; have a great February and🤞🤞🤞 these named storms don’t interfere! 😬⛈️🌪️
I’m getting a bit fed up with the storms clashing with my races BC, maybe I should stop racing every week 🤣 It wasn’t actually bad last week though and luckily we seemed to miss the worst of Eowyn. I hope you got through it ok?
Only time I haven’t done a Toad with them, it was a big disappointment. Not had a purple yet, I missed one that was years ago. Last year was a pale orangey red. I know what it is this year now but I’m not saying yet 😁…it’s not purple though 😢
Right, I need to get up and go build some character 😁 Take care BC 👍
Eowyn translated into high winds with 60 mph gusts up here. We were outside of the Red Zone. The rain stayed away thankfully, and power supplies were not affected. We decided to stay out of the forest, so sadly Molly missed her cafe walk…I imagine that it was closed anyway. Enjoy your run this morning 🙂
