Good morning all! Ok, I may be guilty of making a bit of a flying start here, but having just discharged my annual bauble hanging duties at Church( it isn’t easy hanging large baubles painted by Mrs BC from hooks about 15 feet above my head using fishing line and a long window pole!) it does feel as though Santa’s visit is just around the corner. By tomorrow the “what have I still got to do?” panic will have set in, but for now it’s just jingle bells all the way!! As a matter of fact, I know that there is a little Christmas surprise planned for all of us…..but my lips are sealed. All will be revealed soon, so keep your eyes open 😳.
I digress; back to our chat. For me, the immediate priority is comeback run number 5 following my calf injury from three weeks ago, coupled with a tight peroneal muscle. I think that 8k should be about right. I have been gradually extending pace and distance, and doing plenty of stretches too. I might even throw a hill in too. This should set up my physio visit on Wednesday nicely. I don’t think that there is any magic formula for these rehab runs; it all becomes a matter of feel, in my case always erring in the safe side so as to avoid annoying my physio as she is about to plunge her thumbs into my trigger points 😬. Hopefully the weather will be kinder than at this time last year (pictured)
Looking back on the year, I don’t think that I have done too badly. New pb’s at 10 miles and HM are highlights. The coming year? I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions, but I definitely want to run more (even one) races in 2025. So, it’s out there; I have got to do something about it.
Enough of me; this is your weekly chat! So what is on your mind this week? are you celebrating success? starting new plans? reflecting on this year’s running, planning a rest? Or maybe coping with a set back? Whatever is going on we want to hear all about it. Sharing our experiences and hopes is a big help to all of us.
I hope that your Christmas preparations are going well and that Santa has already received your running gear need list ( note need, not wish!). 🙂
I had a horrible head cold last week, so I didn't run much. In light of that, I've decided to ditch the 'A' goal on yearly distance. Our boys finish school for the year on Friday & will be on summer break until February.
2024 will always be the year that I ran my first marathon , so pushing to hit my annual goal didn't feel worth it. I've set my 2025 running goals 🤣
Good evening RW. You have had an incredible year. Achieving your first Marathon, at pace too, was just amazing….add to that the niggles on the way and, if I remember correctly, a dose of Covid-19, I don’t know how you managed it!
I don’t set annual distance targets. I aim for little things; building back up to 10 miles as early in the year as I can, building strength and fitness, running some HMs, maybe extend distance beyond HM and, if new PBs come out of that, it is a bonus. Overall distance targets for me would be at the mercy of so many things I can’t control; you have already got an A+++ for 2024.👍
I've found building miles each year has really helped me with the distance running. I wouldn't have had the confidence to run a marathon without that base. Well done on all your PB's this year.
Confidence is such a big issue isn’t it? I hate being underprepared because illness injury or other misfortune has interrupted my training. Maybe that is the reason I favour my lone running over races….no deadlines to hit 🤔
I reckon the mental strength is as important as the physical strength with distance running. Catching Covid 6 weeks out helped me with my race as I had no expectations except to finish. I'm not going to try & catch it though for the next one 🤣
This has been a very sad week for me, with my best friend of over 36 years passing away while I was staying with her last weekend 😢 I won’t go further into the details here, except to say that she seems to have passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Although I don’t think I’ve really come to terms with it all yet, my ability to run has really helped me to keep focused on what I need to do now.
Please take care of yourselves and those you cherish, everyone. You never know whether you will see them again, nor whether they will be the same as you remember them if you do.
David, I'm so sorry. I'm sure that must have been a terribly traumatic experience which will take much time to process. Sending hugs. Keep running. Gently xxx
Sincere condolences David on the loss of your friend in such difficult circumstances. Please do give yourself time to grieve, and be kind to yourself too. You couldn't have changed things. I hope running will continue to bring you some comfort and provide space for you to remember your friend. xx
Hello David. I am so sorry. The sudden passing of someone so close in those circumstances will take a long time to deal with. We all do that in different ways. Following our sudden loss Mrs BC found talking to a Cruse counsellor helped, but we are all made differently. For now take care of yourself and find a good way to celebrate your best friend’s life. Running helped me too.
I know what a terrible shock this has been for you David, and hope that in time you will be able gain comfort from the happy times you shared. I’m glad that you have been able to run as it provides a release for you.
Lovely seasonal photo BC. We got a few wet flakes here when we were away (cute photos of baby’s first snow, older grandsons cavorting in the small number of flakes that did make it to the ground), but generally it’s been grey and rather meh!
My year has been fun, but rather static. The races and PR are always the highlights, more so the better when there’s a collection of VRBs present, but my day to day running has suffered hugely due to simply not enough time. I doubt I’d have stuck with running if my job had been as busy as this when I first started in 2018. Still, I can crack out 5ks and other distances at will, so I’ll keep plodding on! Bath Half training has started, and buggy work at PR too. It’s hard work, so I salute all the speedy buggy warriors out there! 🥵👊
Carol season now, so my already depleted time has to be shared with my choirs! Love it all though. 🎄❤️ 🎶 🏃♀️
First I am sorry that I haven't been writing responses to you for ages. Happy reason, our daughter gave birth to premature twin girls. I have, I feel lost two months. But a joy and the babies although beginning their life outside the womb in incubators were home after 3½weeks and doing well.
Well done to you reaching a running stage that means you crack out 5ks and other distances at will and run pushing a buggy 🏃♀️😊 Happy running and singing to you😊🏃♀️
I can tell from the timing of some of your replies and posts that you are busy! Starting to run rather later in life does avoid that work/run clash; there are downsides too of course. I think that you extract the maximum amount out of the runs you can do and nearly all of your runs sound joyful. We all have meh ones! Your speed buggy work will get harder as baby gains weight and needs a bigger buggy!! Good strength training though. Christmas with little ones is a joy.🙂
This working lark has really got in the way hasn’t it cheeky? I often wonder how I would have got on with my running if I’d had to balance it with working.
Munks, I went to sign up for Bath yesterday and they are sold out! I am so disappointed because last year I entered in January so I kept thinking I would still have time this year but apparently they sold out in October! I’m also a bit miffed because I realise that I didn't receive any email updates from them. Generally they tell you about the last minute spaces don't they? For some reason I seem to have been removed from their mailing list ☹️
Glad your calf has been beaten into submission BC! You hit the nail on the head there - 'I don’t think that there is any magic formula for these rehab runs; it all becomes a matter of feel' - I am still trying to get rid of my leg/hip issue and it's not easy. One moment it seems to be going/gone, then not, then inexplicably OK again, then not ... It has driven me nuts all year. No one seems able to get to the bottom of it which is even more frustrating. Nope, 2024 has not been one of my better years. But I'm still here, and today marks the first run of my new HM plan. This time Hal Higdon's HM3 plan (as recommended by our lovely Irishprincess). I've added a week at the beginning, and another just before the final week. Let's see how it goes! Tomorrow I'm lucky enough to be heading off to Mauritius for a couple of weeks, so I'm looking forward to some sunny, early morning seaside runs before coming back for the full brunt of Christmas. Without saying too much, I wonder how tricky our Christmas challenge will be in Mauritius? 🤔🌞Have a great week everyone 🥰
🙂 I see what you did there…a sneaky tease! Have a fabulous break Linda. I won’t be hitting HM distance again for a while; the weather up here is too uncertain, as is my record with winter running. Let’s hope your hip thing decides to go away of its own accord. It has had its time in the spotlight!
I agree, time for the niggle to retire graciously! Hopefully it will at least last me for a couple of weeks of coastal running 🤞 Hope it's not too cold up North!
I remember the beautiful clear blue seas in Mauritius (I was para-gliding at the time and I could see the bottom of the sea and it was sand! Stunning it was)
Have a fab time Linda and I hope you get on with the plan 😎🏃♀️
Morning Beachcomber66 ! It’s a busy season at church. Our decorations are going up next week. I’m gearing up for three carol services. I feel like I need a proper training plan to be ready for all the descants!!
Running is picking up again after a mega busy period of general life. I’ve switched to a training plan which has long runs specified by time rather than distance. That will suit me really well. Plus, it’s a gentle build from the start which is probably what’s needed after having a very quiet November!
I’ve felt a bit stuck this year with one thing and another. I was hoping to do another half marathon and a first full marathon, but didn’t quite get there when covid hit me really badly. I still ran more events this year than my previous two years put together. That’s been such good experience and really motivating. Lots of new bling! I’m focussing on next year’s marathon attempt in April now. It’s exciting and still a bit scary. Small grumbles always make me nervous and last week’s whinging knees on the bridge race has just set of a niggle in my brain. I know what to do and I have the number of a great physio. Just taking it one step at a time!
This month I’m doing the Great Run Solo Challenge- that’s going to be great for hitting some consistency again. Everything good will come from that!! Hope your physio is kind to you!!
Hi MissU. You are always really positive. I have learned that going to my physio quickly, rather than seeing her as the last resort when self help has failed, pays off. So many times, the site of the pain and the source of the problem have proved to be different! Hip exercises to address knee pain is just one example. As you know, I ventured into the Marathon plan this year. The biggest win from that was the strength training and yoga. That was the real win for me in 2024.
I am sure you will continue to hit the high notes; choir and running! 2025 Marathon is nailed in for you.🙂
Glad to hear that your recovery from injury is progressing well, I know from reading your posts how frustrating those niggles have been for you. Onwards and...onwards.
Some of you may know from my previous posts that I started a HM training plan, as I've entered a couple of HMs in the first half of 2025. That should have been challenge enough but I've also been challenging myself to fit the 5 weekly runs in 7 days without trying to miss any out. Keeps me motivated, and slightly stressed.....
I soon found out this was probably going to be more challenging than doing the HM! Weather at this time of year complicates, especially as we are on our 4th storm of the year. Poorly relatives, work, other life admin and responsibilities make that even more of a test. Most weeks I've managed it but a couple of times I have utilised the "8/9" day week approach, occasionally I haven to run more consecutive days that I would have liked. Regardless of it being a tricky time of year to run as much as I'd like, I'm loving running right now.
Might be a touch early to look back on the year but 2024 has been pretty rubbish at times due to bereavements and health issues in the family. At the same time, fortuitously, running has become one of my passions and a salve mentally and physically. Last winter I was just consolidating 5k week after week after week and then decided 2024 was going to be the year I pushed myself to see where I could go without actually having any specific goal. I've got better, stronger and more confident in my ability, I'm still a bit slower than I'd like but this year running has definitely become my "thing".
How we choose to follow a plan is mainly down to finding what works for us; physically and mentally. I chose 3 runs per week throughout the plan. In addition, I often listened to the 15 minute run of the next week as I walked home following my long run. The information is useful for the next week of running. The biggest change I have made is finding the Nike Training Club app. This came from exploring the Marathon Plan. The “little and often” 10 and 20 minute daily sessions have really helped in terms of leg strength. Worth a look.
Do you stand on the ground during the annual bauble hanging duties?
Well done on you PBs and successful running year. I think I missed how the calf injury came and the peroneal muscle tightness. After the Duffield 5 my left knee was not happy. Physio appointment and x-ray later gave outcomes keep running at gentle pace and doing the physio exercises and the diagnosis was mild arthritis, Recently I found I was pain free and getting down to ground level and up again had become easier. So I have been incorporating some speed runs and at the W/E I really fancied a before breakfast 10km along the Cromford Canal. Drove to a convenient parking place and so enjoyed it, but oh dear just felt like upping my pace for the last 3km and boo I have really set my knee back. Sigh ....
We all do it >61! The drive which causes us to push too hard is part of the instinct which got us into running in the first place! I did my 8k in the rain this morning, probably quicker than was sensible, but things feel ok (so far 🤞🤞🤞). Hope your twinge evaporates!!
I did do my bauble hanging with both feet on the floor! The window pole is very long, and Mrs BC puts a loop of strong fishing line on each bauble (they are large paintings really) and my hand is still steady enough to fit the loops over some hooks I screwed into the ceiling beams when I was a bit younger.
Just finished my cafe coffee ….served up in my own special cup which the staff have bought for me. Isn’t that nice?🙂
Just looked at my data. Yes I increased my stride length and decreased my cadence. Just wanted to run faster, which I really enjoyed, didn't think about how to, just did it and clearly this isn't how you are supposed to do it. Are there any NRC guided runs that address this? I assume that I am supposed to keep the same stride length and increase my cadence. My mind boggles at the thought. Any hints on how not to increase my stride length while running faster?
This following starts with my physio giving me a good telling off for over-striding on a 1k speed trial (she was fixing my knee at the time !) and then moves to some more recent help from Coach Bennett on the Half Marathon Plan.
On my run today my average stride length was .96cm. I strayed up to .98 at times, which really doesn’t matter. Within the margin of error ! My cadence started at 143 spm in the first slow 1k and ended up at 162 as I picked up speed through the 8k run. Overall average cadence was 158… there were some hills involved which tends to shorten my stride length over those stretches. I think that .95 plus or minus a bit, is my happy stride limit.
Switch to my disastrous 5 minute 33 second 1k “speed trial” 4 years ago. That was run at only 158 spm and 1.14m stride length! That gross overstride (for me) led to runner’s knee and worse!
CB comes into the picture in two ways. First, in the early HM plan runs, he concentrates on getting the runner to focus on where their feet are landing; under the chin rather than out in front if I remember correctly. I do this by feel now.
He returns to the topic on long runs. After the first slow(er) 5k of a long run he frequently ask me to increase pace without increasing effort. I do that by raising my stride length from about .88 (I need that lower stride length in the first part of the run in order to run slowly!) to my comfortable .95. I can feel the effortless gear change and see the pace increase on my watch. I know that my feet are landing beneath me rather than out in front when I hit .95. Having done that, if I want to speed up even more, extra effort is needed, and that is channeled into increasing cadence, not stride length.
But that is me! I am guessing that I have longer legs than you, so your stride length will be different, but I think the principle is the same.
I hope that makes some kind of sense. Worth reading around I think. Others may have views to share?
Thank you so much Beachcomber. Lots to think about. My mind does boggle. But perhaps concentrating on my feet landing under my chin whatever my effort my be a good starting place. Intriguing. I remember a physio appointment while I had a hamstring problem saying I can run but must keep my stride length short. It felt a very odd way to run. Keeping my feet landing under my chin seems a really good thing to work at. Do you find that difficult for different paces, presumably not, I expect that you have it sorted. I suppose CB was always saying to keep my feet landing under my chin, I think, when I was running at easy pace, so it was quite natural. Thank you again and I hope that your physio appointment goes well.😊🏃♀️
I think the main thing is that for this mature /veteran runner, a sudden switch to a significantly longer stride length as a means of going much faster wasn’t good news. I have avoided it for years now and the runner’s knee hasn’t come back🤞🤞👍 More recently, the early parts of the HM programme with CB really helped me.
That'll be 96cm or 0.96m. (About 38 inches.) And 2cm difference is just under an inch (2.54cm).
What I find is that when I go faster my contact time goes down at the same time as my stride length getting slightly longer and the cadence increasing. My legs might not be extending any further to cover the extra ground.
Feet landing under the hip is the usual recommendation. If you're leaning forward, under the chin is not where you want to land. Mechanically speaking, landing very slightly behind the hip would be more efficient.
Because I wear barefoot shoes, I get instant feedback if I'm overstriding as it would become painful to land on my heel.
It’s a video; images better than words on this stuff I think. If it’s good enough for Eliud Kipchoge ….he has a huge stride length despite his height…..more leaping than running.
Hi Beachcomber66 and all VRBs! 2 little runs for me last week, joined my friend at club who's had a nasty bug and wanted to do the shortest route,so a run and catch up chat then an excellent parkrun posse with our Tuesday Night club leader Jo achieving her 200th parkrun (but has also volunteered 259 times!!) Around 10 of us ran together then did a tunnel for her to the finish line 😊
My stiched up hand is now uncovered totally following tonight's nurse appointment, still a bit sore and unsightly so might have to cover for working in reception tomorrow! Lip quite scarred at the mo but seems to be shrinking a bit gradually. Right in the middle so feeling a little self conscious 🤬but could have been worse! Another parkrun celebration of 400 runs with my friend and the Ventnor Sloggers club this coming week!
Not worrying about Christmas atm, partners daughter has a planned major operation on the 18th so another Christmas in hospital for them 😪
Hi Aliboo. A tough time for you and loved ones. It is good that runs and running buddies can take us out of ourselves for a while. I hope that the scars disappear quickly. My trousers covered my knee damage in August 2023…at least once the matuka honey dressing was taken off (the honey kept melting and soaking through my clothes! Molly loved it!).
I hope that the operation goes well and that you can all enjoy a late Christmas together. ❤️
Hello BC , I bet your church looks beautiful with Mrs BC’s hand painted baubles, and a tall chap like you is perfect for the installation.
The arrival of advent brings joy to Christmas elves like myself. When my nieces suggested we don’t need to bother with Christmas presents for their ever growing families, I was horrified. They don’t need to buy for us but I love searching for the right things, wrapping them up and giving surprises. Lists appear but sometimes I go completely off piste.
I’ve had a lovely day in London with my sister today - exhibition, lunch and Christmas lights. Then it will be a birthday dinner and Christmas dinner later in the week. I need to get some running in between to burn off some calories!
Last week I managed an easy pace run on a sunny day and then my 200th parkrun, both with UpTheStanley . In the photo it looks like I’m leading the men but I can assure you, there were many more in front of me.
Looks like a classic foot landing beneath your chin there Dexy5; text book! Congratulations on your 200 Park Runs. Saturday was a day of scares and alarms here so I missed your Park Run post; all sorted now!
Park Run has given you so much, but you and UTS have given a lot back too; they are lucky to have you both around. Sounds like Christmas is off to a great start down there.🙂
No.1 plays soccer. He is flying to Malaysia tomorrow to play for Western Australia. No.2 is now working at a cafe on a Saturday morning as a Barista at Park run time. No3 is always at the skate park. No 4 & 5 need to improve their 5k times to run park run with Mum & Dad or at least until they age out of the arms reach rule 🤣
You will get it all done as ever missw. You did well to manage a 13k so soon after your marathon. When and where is your next one?
It was pouring down up here too; just a soggy 8k for me. Physio tomorrow; should be signed off I think. The outsides of my calves really tightened up again. A hill and the wet unstable ground conditions I think….which brings me back to thinking about risking some trail shoes ….people have made some helpful suggestions…time to bite the bullet I think. I desperately do not want to upset my achilles again. Calf problems are usually a quick fix, but achilles problems tend to set up camp for ages……
I’ve got various trail shoes but only use them for deep mud or especially rocky surfaces if needed. I can’t recall the last time I wore my Saucony’s with the rock plate. I wear my Nike Peg Shields for virtually all runs these days, or the dead grippy Puma weather resistant velocity 2. The new Puma Forever run has really excellent grip too. All of them are described as road shoes I don’t like walking to the trail in trail shoes that have aggressive lugs. it’s like walking in football boots. Click clack 😁 OK if driving to the start though and putting them on once there 🙂
I walked into town the other day with OH, deliberately via a mazey off-road -but Tarmaced - route. OH told me I should keep off it because of slippery leaves 🙄 😤🤷♀️😁
If you really fancy a pair then go ahead. The world is your oyster, and if it would encourage you to go off-road more, then that would be a boon 😀🏃♂️
The sales would be my first port of call.
Nike Run Club let me download a marathon plan of 14 weeks rather than the usual 18 weeks as I inputted a supposed race date of 9th March 2025. I was surprised at that and wondered if it’s because the app recognised my recent marathon 🤔🤷♀️
I’ve not committed to anything but doing the training if I can stay fit. My heel is protesting again this morning but there’s always something niggling these days. Goes with the territory 😎
My heel caps for all but running shoes is keeping my heel problem at bay.
I always get this outer calf problem when autumn comes; mud and leave……and there are lots of loose stones on the forest tracks. I will find something, my problem is that I am too concerned about creating an Achilles problem; they can take forever to shift.
I had my last physio appointment today; the original muscle pull is fixed, but she had to get her thumbs into the outside of my calf. She says it is better than it was so🤞.
We had a good chat. The correlation between muddy leaf strewn slippy paths in autumn/ winter and my repeat calf problems is obvious now. My road shoes are fine for the rest of the year, but not in conditions like this. So I have ordered some trails. I have been grateful for all of suggestions people have made. In the end I have asked them to get in a pair with an 8mm drop so that I can try them on. I did try some 5mm drop, which felt very comfortable, but I want to try the 8mm before choosing. Thanks 🤶🥂
I like a 5mm drop but best to get there gradually. I think many trail shoes are fairly low. Some of the more ridiculous stack heights available look unstable to me 😱
He showed me some innov8 shoes with a 5 mm drop. They felt ok, but I wanted to try the Brooks Cascadia at 8mm. They have ordered them in. I don’t like the look of these shoes with the turned up toes( like eastern slippers in an Aladdin panto) …..maybe they feel ok on!
oh I agree! They look weird. Adidas seems to like em 😀
I had a pair of Cascadias and wore them til they died. It broke my heart to finally bin them. They were a cheap sale bargain in an unpopular colour but when they’re mucky it doesn’t really matter. They were billed as a hybrid shoe - to get you from road to trail
I bigged them up no end on here and even donned them with a summer frock to commute to town ☺️
I have thought about insoles too (as kindly suggested by Dexy5 ) but both physio and shop people pulled a bit of face, given my high arches…..a guy who had me walking over a computer pad said that it had caught my foot fall, at least it showed the two small parts of my foot which actually touched the ground!
Hello BC and VRBs. I am impressed that you’ve started the Christmas preparations already! Gorgeous photo btw 😍
I’ve just started present wrapping which is a bonus because I was supposed to be staying with a friend these last few days but something came up that meant we had to postpone so I have an extra few days to start doing something festive!
You’ve probably already seen by my reply to Munks that Bath is now sold out so I haven't been able to enter ☹️ I’m now looking around for an alternative. But I’ll still start training after my Christmas 10K in December. Gives me focus 👍
In the meantime, the running is going well, I’m feeling strong again and ready for my Christmas race! I want to end this year niggle-free and ready for a new year ahead. Bring it on!
Everything except Bath, great news. I hope tomorrow will be my last physio appointment, so I should be ready for a decent long run on Boxing Day. We are at serious risk of starting the year with a fully fit squad 🤞🤞👍
Hi misswobble. I have been out Molly walking. She likes to show off her new hairdo!
I bought a Forerunner 55 in the end. It has five buttons instead of four 😬. It took me a little while to get my head round it, but I am managing now. I have stuck with the factory settings.
On each run I make a choice of running the watch “suggested” run or just scrolling down one and selecting “run”. I haven’t found a way of choosing a distance, such as setting a HM, so I just press start, do my run and switch off when I hit my desired distance…so I don’t get a “distance completed” buzz, but that doesn’t matter; I am watching the dial like a hawk at the end of a run anyway. On the watch suggested timed runs, eg two hours, the clock on the display starts at two hours and counts down to zero.
There are lots of features which I haven’t tried yet; and may never do! It may be stuck on VO2 max 44, either that or these shorter rehab runs are suiting me……
Well I never! I’d just convinced myself that was the natural successor having ignored the recommendations to leap ahead to a swankier model, with features that don’t remotely interest a Luddite like me ☺️
My current watch is going a bit nutty and is showing the wrong time of day when I turn it on to run, but will show the correct time when I upload the run. I noticed as well yesterday that the display is now showing a different order of stats to previously 😵💫 I don’t mess with it at all so it ain’t me 🤷♀️ Just as well I can’t read the darned thing on the move 🤓
The 55 is available in the mint green too which like 😍
I use the Nike app so just run put the watch to Run Outdoors mode and that’s it til I save the run and turn the watch off at the end of the run
I am relying on my watch for now; I will reload a plan when I am sure this calf is 100%. I think I will go for a wander through the Marathon plan again. It really helped strength and balance wise. Even if I can’t make marathon(I am certain that I can’t) I will come out of it stronger than if I stick with the HM plan. Bit of variety. The HM plan is really good too.
You could always have a go at a marathon run by yourself. I did a virtual one when my event got cancelled a few years back. I arranged it so I’d pass my house at about 22 km to refuel etc.
The plans are good! I ran a speed intervals run this week with that hard case 🤔. Wossername? Sally McRae! 💡 First intervals I’ve done for quite a while so as not to aggravate my ankle🫤.
As soon as I start a plan I will be back into intervals; I really enjoy them. Tempo runs are good too. I will have a look at the printed version of the marathon plan and find a convenient place to start (when these freezing cold winds and day long torrential rain showers disappear of course).
You are right; I had forgotten! Maybe I could start off right at the beginning, do all of the runs and exercises (so taking more than a week to do each run week) and see how it goes. At worst I will end up a bit stronger. I will mull that over. The secret seems to be getting more miles into the legs, as opposed to being focussed on pace. No more than an idea at present….
speaking of rotten weather I was out in it again yesterday for a 16k with Coach B. I was wearing shorts, a tee and my new purple jacket. It was warm enough to stow the jacket early on. Just before 8k it was getting rough so was relieved to be heading home. I had to put my jacket back on when it started raining sharply. It didn’t last too long but I didn’t want to get too wet 😏. I finished a-ways from home, and was walking, but I got so cold I had to make a dash for it 😀🏃♀️ I stupidly forgot some gloves. My new jacket sleeves were too tight to pull over my hands 🙄
16k is good; the marathon hasn’t taken too much out of you and, hopefully, your ankle is behaving. I got my GSR shirt and medal yesterday; it will be a while before I can show it off on a run🙂
I tried to download that run, but it didn’t want to play, so I went for a run with Eliud , which I extended to 10k. Quite happy with the time; but too cold for a short sleeved shirt! 🥶
