Itโs time to give us details of your races for September.
Iโve looked at last year and it looked pretty busy so I expect the same this year with lots of fab events deserving of a pompom flourish and loads of cheers for you before the Big Day!!
Any distance, any location, any country, we want them all. Fun runs, muddy runs, first time races, regular dates, new challenges, virtual events, anything and everything deserves a pompom cheer on the Friday beforehand to get you on your way. Youโll do the training and your VRBs will do the whooping and waving and all you have to do is turn up at the start line and end up at the finish line and it doesnโt matter what happens in between ๐
So, give us the name and date of your event plus a link to the website. Tell us a little about it and anything in particular youโd like us to mention in our pompom post. Maybe why you have chosen this particular event? Does it mean something personal to you or do you just like the look of the bling? ๐คฉ
Weโll put the details on the attached spreadsheet and then thatโs where weโll go when itโs time to give you a pompom cheer on the Friday beforehand.
Good luck with your training and rest up well too. Youโve got this! ๐ช

Hi Irish princess, I am taking part for the second year in a local event, the Cumbernauld 10K on Sunday 15th September, it's a community event with other runs , as well as the 10K there is a 3K, 1K, 400metres and a victory mile walk, I am doing the 10K
I have ran a 10K once every month this year except March when I ran two, the fastest was in June in a time of 70 minutes and 40 seconds, the August 10K was yesterday in a time of 71 minutes and 30 seconds, the September 10K will be the Cumbernauld 10K and in October I am booked to run the 10K version of The Great Scottish run, there is also a Half Marathon as well but I am only doing the 10K
Ooh, I'll be first on the sheet! I have entered the Altrincham 10k on Sunday (1st) altrincham10k.com/I got free entry to two Runthrough races when I volunteered at a Runthrough event locally, and this is the first one. An excuse to visit my brother in NWales and an aunt and cousin in Cheshire!
Hey Irishprincess ! My first contribution here for ages. I impulse booked to run the Worcester City 10k this morning. How did I become this person? I decided I fancied a birthday treat run and I really liked the look of it. A lot of the route seems to go along the river.
Itโs the thing that keeps me running to the end ๐. I donโt know if itโs a buttercream cup cake or doughnut for my September half ๐คทโโ๏ธ Year before last it was a cupcake but I was decidedly off colour so my small relative polished it off. It was an iced doughnut last year which really hit the spot ๐. I never eat doughnuts ๐
I can take them or leave them. I like a classic plain ring one, preferably just cooked and still warm, but Iโm not fussed by all the fancy iced ones.
Hi Irishprincess , a fair few of us (wonโt name them all in case I miss someone) are doing the New Forest HM or 10k on September 8th. Personally itโs the 10k option for me. Should be a lot of fun. ๐๐
I'm doing this one too this year , the 10k! Some years ago did the HM but 10k enough for me atm! Kenny running it too, he booked it for us as kid free weekend! Xxx
And guess what? The New Forest 10k on 8 September. UpTheStanley was first in his age group last year so he was given a free pass to defend his title. I am also entered into the 10k, and was hoping to improve on last yearโs time. Now I will just be glad to be able to do it, and enjoy the festival atmosphere.
I did it last year as my first ever organised race, itโs big (c15,000 people) which although bonkers, suited me as I just really didnโt want to be last! I also appreciated it being local as I live in London. Despite a weird sprain/strain that appeared week before (maranoia, I was told) I managed to get around, didnโt hate it and signed up for this year.
Iโm feeling nervous, but have been running steadily for the past year. I have been really consistent in my pace and times so not expecting a better time but hoping not to be much worse. ๐ค๐ฝ
We did a 20 mile race before Amsterdam last year and it really helps mentally. You also get the chance to try out all your kit and fuelling. I would recommend it to anyone prepping for a marathon if theyโve not got much experience of them.
We had details of the after party for Berlin today: limitless food, beer and wine! It sounds incredible if we can stay awake ๐
Oh I hope they serve real beer after the Berlin race. Last year they gave us non alcoholic beer which was refreshing but not exactly what I had in mind at the end
Iโll see what my tummy says too Decker. I tried Maurten yesterday for the first time, as theyโre handing that out. No ill effects apart from a dent in my bank account ๐ฌ
Last year there was a full table of Maurten. No one was taking them so I took a few. They pulled me through the end when my stomach could not take any more xact gel bars
Thatโs useful to know. It was pretty good, weirdly jelly like, easy to open and no sticky hands. All that sugar and carbs though, it is a bit much after a while isnโt it? ๐คข
I have to say I prefer it that way too. I usually use Tailwind and that seems to do me ok. I find it really difficult to stay hydrated and fuelled any other way.
Hi I'm doing the Great North Run on September 8th, first time foing it. I just entered the ballot on a whim and hit a place. Been watching videos on YouTube of previous years and it looks epic.
You were lucky! You're sure to have a fab time. If you search here for GNR youโll find race reports about it from other VRBs whoโve done it in previous years.
Remember to look out for your pompom cheer on the Friday beforehand ๐ฅณ
Iโm running this Saturday which technically isnโt next month ๐ A last minute decision to try the Veterans Athletics Club Championships at Tooting Bec stadium.
My final race of the season is the double 100 at the Stratford Speed GP at great London Community Track in London on the 8th.
Oh good luck Brian, hope you do a lot better than when I came last there in the 100m at the Wandsworth Sports Day a million years ago! I used to live two minutes away ๐ป
Youโre such a star I donโt think it would matter if you were letting us know about a race in February in the September pom pom post RunBrianRun ! Woohoo, let rip and see what you can do! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
Itโs going to be an exciting race as Iโm in the same draw as an extremely gifted and accomplished masters athlete called Pat Logan. Iโve just copied and pasted his profile here for reference. Itโs quite something! Weโve managed to avoid each other until now due to injury but itโs going to be a very tense and close race which Iโm really looking forward to.

Thank you IP for this timely post ๐. I booked a Sept HM yesterday! Managed to bag a hotel room with a bath ๐! ๐
Tape to Tape ABP Humber Coastal on 15th Sept when I hope to improve my last two finish times ๐๐. Tee shirt, gorgeous medal if previous years are anything to go by, plus a bun or doughnut, placed in the hand right at the finish ๐
8th - I'm in the New Forest with the gang, I'm doing the 10k.
15th - I'm not riding but am organising the Autumn Challenge for my Ladies Cycling Club (Women on Wheels). This is a members day with 4 routes all starting and ending at a village hall where there is lots of coffee and cake. Riders can opt to do one route (the shortest is 15 miles) or up to three (a total of 60 miles). My job is to keep tabs on everyone in and out, to make cups of coffee and make sure we don't run out of cake! I'm H&S officer too. We will be recceing the courses during the week beforehand, so lots of peddling to do. We just have our fingers crossed that the weather is kinder than when we tried to do it in the spring and it rained... a lot!
29th - Stage 9 of the Cotswold Way Walk from Wotton under Edge to Hawkesbury Upton. Organised by RJFitness and Coaching. About 10 miles.
Can I add this? Not sure. as I am doing a Virtual one...the Spitfire Run.... 10K?
It should have been at RAF Cosford, where I did the first one... but major works on the runway etc there, have meant, no date could be arranged as the alternative to the original one. So, they have put up a virtual one.
We have been able to download a pilot's details who we are running for.
I am not sure on the day yet... but am thinking that if it is sunny, as forecast on Sunday 1st... I may do the run, appropriately I feel, on the site of the old aerodrome, where many, many young pilots were trained. It is now a housing estate, but with wonderful green spaces, especially where all the RAF buildings were...
It is one of my routes that I use when i am not on my fields and seems an evocative place to run. A lot of uphill which I enjoy and a lot of downhill, which I enjoy also, on the way back!
Absolutely Floss ๐ Sounds fab. Once you know what day youโll do it on then let me know and we can send you off with a special pompom call-to-arms flourish ๐ฅณ
Hi IP. Iโve delayed adding this as I have a few aches and pains following tripping over last week when I was out running ๐คฆโโ๏ธ - but itโs all mending nicely now so Iโll be doing the four races Iโm signed up for in September, woohoo!
8th - New Forest along with lots of VRBs. Very excited! Iโm doing the 10k.
15th - Totton 10k organised by a local running club to celebrate its 40th birthday
29th - Utilita Bowl 10k. Starts and finishes in the cricket ground which is quite an impressive place. Met the lovely ย aliboo70 for the first time in person at this one last year when the ground was called the Ageus Bowl. Hope for the same sunny weather we had then!
Hi Irishprincess I'm doing the 10K this year. Last year I did the Half Marathon but i didn't like the route; so this year its the 10K. //tempoevents.co.uk/events/st...
I am rather late, sorry! I am running with Squiggy ๐ถ on Sunday 15th. Dulverton Fun Run and Canicross, we are doing the 10km. I have done the event once before, set in a beautiful Exmoor village . There is a very steep climb at the beginning- I will walk that! Then the route goes along a high ridge with lovely views, through fields and eventually back down to the village ๐๐ My first event for 3 years so looking forward to it.
I chose the 21k route with some friends I have not seen in a while. Should be a fun day with a glass (or two) of Cider and a custom glass you can keep. This will be my cutback week after my 40k training run for the Oct 50k, so I am looking forward to just enjoying it. Happy running everyone!
