It's been one of those weeks. For the first time since I started the C25K back in February, I found my motivation to get out the door to be flagging. I did manage to get my three runs for the week with a last minute entry into the Regent's Park 5K. (You know me and bling...)
I started out faster than I thought I would but I wasn't out to prove anything - just glad to be out. I think I ran about 2K at that speed before I noticed that my HR was a bit high. So walked for a few tenths to bring it back down and restarted. At the end, I even found I had it in me to make a dash for the finish line.
Who would have 'thunk' it but another PB. Fastest KM, 1 mile, and 5K. I'm starting to feel that bounce or 'kissing the ground' that OF talks about especially when I frequently check in with my form (thanks CB and MU).
Now back to normal and looking forward to my next run!! I finished the NRC 10K plan, so thought I'd jump over to the RW 4-week 10K plan in these last weeks before Vitality 10000.
All the best...
PS - I must note that I purchased some new running shoes a couple of weeks ago and I do credit them for making a big difference. I had my shoe size scanned and gait analysis. These new shoes are half a size larger than my previous ones - both stabilisers for over pronating. Not sure if I can mention the store, but they were really helpful.
I really wouldn't have thought of buying another pair at this point but I read a post here about feet swelling with running. I never experienced that until I started some of my longest runs in the 10K programme.
