Sorry my write up is late, first time Ive had chance to do it,been a hectic week!
Well, as much as I like the warm weather, I have to admit to crossing my fingers last week that the weather on Saturday could be a bit cooler. However, it was not to be!
It was hot, hot, hot! The route takes you out of the show ground of the country fair through Heckington village and out to the country lanes. You basically do 5 miles which brings you back to the village on a big lap and back out again, and finishing back in the showground. There is a 2 hour max to finish the race, so a bit of pressure. I enjoy the race, but I do wish the organisers could plan the route a little different, so rather than having to literally come back on yourself to do another 5 mile loop, I wish it could be 5 miles out and miles back in but in one big loop rather than looping back twice. Its a little soul destroying when you see the fast runners coming back towards you finishing their 2nd loop , when you still have another 5 mile loop to goπ.
Mind you the fact that you then have entrance to the whole country show for the day, is very nice, although I was working on one of the stands after the race, so didnt get chance to look around, plus it took me 35 mins to find my car to get changed after the race, but thats a different story!!π
I did 1.36.49 which is 4 .5 mins slower than last year, so a bit disappointed but still not quite back to full fitness, so wasn't bad all considering. The winner did it in 51mins!!!!! He was coming in just as we were heading out for our second 5 miles!!π΅
We don't get a medal, but the hoody is gorgeous!! Hilarious that it obviously isn't the weather for it right now, but when it is, it will be really snuggly!!π

That is an outstandingly good time in my book Hedgehogs123. I didnβt think that the 2 hour deadline was going to worry you. Excellent job!!
There was an awful lot of other things going on during the day; the organisation will have been complicated. No wonder you lost your car.
I have been through the βcanβt find the carβ drama. We had taken one of the children to a hospital appointment in another city; we were in a rush, left the car in a multi storey, and then couldnβt find the car park after the appointmentβ¦and when we did we had to wander through all the levels to find the car! We were focussed on getting to the appointment on time; getting home afterwards was secondary!
aww thank you, I was a little disappointed as I did do it better last year and I think it was hot again, but thats the way it goes isn't it.
The annoying thing about my car, was that I looked up the position on 'what3words' so I would know where it was, but then completely forgot I'd done that!!ππ
π€£ I so enjoy the many comments on these forums that make me laugh out loud. Thank you. I have actually been in a few walk in fridges, so they do exist. π
That's a really excellent time in those conditions Hedgehogs123 I see so many people that can struggle on a day like that for lots of reasons: lack of hydration, pushing too far, not fuelling etc so a huge well done to you. 10 miles is an awesome distance π
Thank you, I decided to wear my hydration vest, as I don't do well trying to grab glasses or bottles of water en route, whereas I find if I sip slowly as and when I need it, it works better for me. It was funny though at the beginning of the race, as a lad running along side me, said I sounded like a washing machine because it was sloshing around!! ππ
Well done! Fab time on a such a hot day. I was running my long run that day too and it was a bit sticky π₯΅
No doubt youβll get plenty of wear from that hoodie come winter. When I first saw your photo I thought it was a cushion π now there's an ideaβ¦π€
Aww thank you, yes, the heat was a bit tricky and it didnt help that we passed a family having a bar b que 4 times!! Im veggy, but the smell still gets me ! π
