Just got back from my very first training run (3.2km/2 miles) for my first Half Marathon in March! Despite it being absolutely freezing (It was 1 degree!) I thought it went quite well. I've been itching to start training for it for ages now so am glad that I can really get my teeth back into training towards my goal!

Just started my Half Marathon training!
Excellent. I always do a HM in Spring just so that I have a focus for running over winter and Xmas too. Enjoy your training. It will be worth it.
Thanks! Its difficult running in the cold and dark so I do miss the summer but am looking forward to getting stuck into training too!
I quite like it once I get going, but getting out the door in the cold and dark is not fun. The trainig plan helps - I doubt I would bother otherwise!
Yeah that's the great thing about a plan, is that you haven't got a choice, otherwise race day might not go as well! I find the hardest thing is getting out of bed early in the morning when it's still freezing! Once I'm actually out there and in my groove, then I'm fine! I think it's the thought of it is always the worse thing!
Good! Youβre off! π
Itβs exciting π€π€π€. Have fun out there π
The weather will deteriorate I expect, but get out when the weather allows. Itβs often icy first thing, but once some watery sunshine gets through, you get a thaw and can get out there. Take it more slowly obvs π
Yes, I usually do my runs super early in the morning but it was rather frosty yesterday and I almost slipped on a drain cover! So I might have to reschedule the times that I run because of the weather, which I'm not so keen on the idea of doing really...
Yay. I love starting a new plan - all fresh and exciting π. It'll keep you going through the winter and you can dream of spring. Good luck and enjoy. Check out Abi's post today if you fancy joining the spring HM group π
Well done. The hardest part is getting your kit on, I find! I hope you enjoy the training. I loved working towards the Royal Parks HM (my first ever). Happy running.
Nicely done! Youβll be great. Like miswobble says, just get your runs in where you can.
