Hello lovely running friends! Have you had a great week? a mediocre one? Well a new week brings new opportuities, right?
Do you have anything special planned ? any great opportunities to take advantage of?
During lockdown, with the absence of live events, we introduced the idea of a HU virtual Half Marathon; it gave many of us something to work towards. It was popular for various reasons - some people don't really fancy a formal live event but do like a goal, some needed a little extra motivation to reach their first half marathon without pressure, others just loved the idea of being part of a joint goal with a group of amazing VRBs!
So my main news this week, on behalf of the Marathon Team, is to confirm a date for our next HUHM; the Spring 2023 virtual HU Half Marathon IS going to happen, and we invite you all to join us!!!
It's been a while since our last one, so there are more details below for anyone who has no idea what we're talking about, but in short we pick a date and invite our VRBs to run a half marathon wherever they choose! We nominate a date for the event and look forward to reading your race reports. If you can set off at the nominated date and time, you have the added boost of knowing we are all on the virtual HU start line together - running on our own, but not alone.
β The HU spring 2023 main event will be on Sunday 14th May, 9.30am β
(however, as always we do realise the date/time might not work for everyone, so in order to give greater flexibility we will accept runs at any time on Sunday 14th May or at any point during the following week of Mon 15th - Sun 21st May).
This event is of course entirely free to enter and once again, there are no t-shirts, medals, socks, aid stations or toilet queues! No training plans or routes will be supplied! Instead, a unique HU experience, run your way π
β How might it work?
In the past we have set up a playlist (based on your suggestions), we have put together a 'run experience' using the RunGo app and we have even made bibs available (so long as you have a printer at home!).
β If we receive enough submissions, we can compile an event playlist based on your suggestions. Let us know any tracks you would like added to the playlist either by sending me a PM via chat or pop it in the comments below πΆ
β If enough people are interested, we can again try to put together a βrun experienceβ using RunGo. Some people liked it, others were less keen! Think pantomime version of Nike guided runs! πππ
β Finally, we will of course have a winner! In the past, the winner has been the person who completed their run in the time closest to our randomly generated time (after the event closes). Maybe you have a more creative suggestion, but we would like to ensure that there is absolutely no requirement to run fast to win this event! ππ
β We hope youβll be eager to join in (and help make this a great one)
If you are interested or have any suggestions, please let us know below. If you aren't in a position to consider a HM in May, but would like a 10k option instead, tell us that below too.
And, as always, do please let us know how your runningβs going in the comments - good or bad, you can share it all here !
Have a wonderful week, everyone!
The Marathon Team xxx

Sounds brilliant! I won't be ready for a HM in May because I'm just building back after a long break. Any chance we could add a 10k option please, it would be a brilliant goal for those of us on a comeback journey π
I did wonder about that ... if there's interest then yes! Absolutely. I'll add an edit to the post π So good to see you building back up again, great job (and a very warm welcome back to this forum) π₯°
It's harder building up through the winter for spring isn't it? Maybe even more so in Scotland! Having said that ... late May is heading in the right direction π
That's amazing, thank you! It'll give me something to work towards and help motivate me π It's great to be back and to catch up with what everyone's been up to βΊοΈ
I loved the HUHM autumn 2020. It was brilliant and got me to my first HM distance.
I still look out for the Strava results of other VRBβs from that group and itβs one of the reasons I still feel a great deal of gratitude to this forum.
Sadly, as Iβm running the Southend HM at the beginning of June I donβt think itβs going to quite work for me this time but Iβd encourage anyone who may be considering it to get involved!!
It's good to hear that the HUHM, and the community spirit arising from it, made a positive difference for you. Hmmm. Perhaps - with a little creativity - you could incorporate one of your long training runs with a warm up walk and cool down to reach the HM distance? No one says it has to be run the whole way π Alternatively, if we include a 10k option, maybe that would fit better with your training plan? Good luck with the training for Southend, whatever you decide π
Iβve entered a HM on the Ist April so probably wonβt run another in May but I will certainly be cheering you all on β€οΈπββοΈππ»ββοΈ
As I've already entered a HM on 2nd April and another on 7th May ... my HUHM is likely to be a very slow affair π πππ If we include a 10k option, that may work better for you?
Either way though, they are not intended to be speedy races as such π
No pressure, but where's your photo??? We folk languishing in winter climates rely on your photos for our weekly dose of vitamin D π
Ohh thank you for the photo! Just what's needed on A Feb Monday morning!
So at this point I will 'fess up! My ever first HM event was Mach 2019, my second April 19 and my third May 19!!! I hobbled away from the finish line of that third event with what turned out to be a stress fracture! However I did run all three at (my) full tilt, ignoring every message my body was sending me, and I won't be doing that again!!!
I ran just under 13.1 miles for my first half so did it again two weeks later to legitimately claim my badge on here. It wasnβt my best idea but thankfully I was so slow that I escaped injury. Iβm not planning on running my HM event so sedately so I will see how that goes. Iβm feeling slightly nervous about my first event as I think self control will be a challenge. I know I donβt want a stress fracture though π³
It was far from good π The atmosphere of the race may well speed you up a little over what you can find in a training run - and that is good! What is not good is a flying start with the speedy front runners. I find starting back a bit really helps, that and having a goal pace in mind that you keep checking!
A good rule of thumb that Iβve heard is that, after a race, you should allow a dayβs recovery for every mile of the race. So, thatβs about two weeks for an HM, four weeks for a marathon. Itβs OK to run in the recovery period, just avoid pushing it (so, no fast and no long runs).
Personally, Iβm a big fan of the weekly long slow run. Itβs a good way of building stamina and I think it acts as a great base on which to build.
I'm not sure what I thought! I imagine lots of people would get away with it - I didn't! I do think something else happened that exacerbated my problem, but bottom line is, it was too much for me at that time and I ignored the signs that something was wrong until it was too late π
Hooray! Sounds great! I'm in as the first lockdown one was my first ever half and I loved it! In fact I still go back to the music track as I love how different and individual it is! Thank you Linda and Marathon team!
Hi Linda!! Great idea, though I don't know if I would get to HM distance, something to aim for, but having only ever done that distance once I seem to have a bit of a mental block about whether I can do it again! My aim for March is to get back to 10km. If that goes well, who knows, maybe 21km is possible....!
Anything is possible!!! Dream big!!! It doesn't all have to be run if that might help? The challenge might help you past the mental block, but if caution proves more sensible then perhaps a 10k option would be of more interest? Either way, a bit of added motivation hopefully. We'll be looking out for your March 10k, good luck π₯°
About that time (autumn 2021) I was doing between three and five runs per week, and the usual mix was two 10km runs per week, parkrun (5km) and the rest either 2 miles (3 km) or 5km, with the occasional jog/sprint intervals run.
I would love to join in Linda, except Iβm running the Bristol 10k on that very day. If there is a 10k option, I guess I could run it on the 14th and the HM during the following week. π
Not that Iβve run far recently, so Iβd need to ramp back up, but heck Iβll give it a try and itβll give me a juicy much needed goal to look forward to. ππ» I must admit Iβm incredibly unmotivated and cheesed off by my inability to return to where I was prior to my virus last autumn, and I need a hefty carrot to entice me. π₯ Two carrots would be even better, so count me in for both virtual runs if thatβs allowed! π
I insist Cheeky! No excuses ... 10k on 14th and a half the following week/weekend - you just bought yourself an extra week of training!!! Now shake off those blues, put on your game face ... and let's do this πͺπ₯°
Youβre on! 10k on the 14th (I assume the 18th is a typo?) and a meaty old HM the following week (Iβll pick a day with the best weather!). Yay, something to get my gnashers stuck into! π€ΈββοΈ
I have the ability to engage a low gear and trot along for ages over61, but I seem to have lost pace compared to where I was. Itβll come back β¦ eventually β¦ and Iβm sure youβll be fine too!
Oh yes, I meant to mention about Part 3 of Lopez. I ran yesterday morning on the trails and listened then. It didnβt disappoint and I wanted to cheer at the end. Lovely that he has set up his own Foundation so he can give back, and what a wonderful family he had in the US. After what he went through in his early days, he deserved to do well. β€οΈ
It is definitely hard not to think about pace, isn't it? I realise that if I up my effort to what I think of as 7 out of 10 my knee reacts badly, so increased pace has become an absolute no. Boo! I am getting better at not even thinking about pace, just looking for enjoyment in any way I can. I'm listening through to a variety of NRC guided runs, Run with Lopez was astounding, wasn't it?
I donβt usually care much about pace over61, as I know Iβm not a speedster and I embrace that. But I donβt like the fact that my fitness slumped so badly last autumn and itβs taking its own sweet time to return. I guess Iβm impatient, but since September? Really? π
Β 'Iβm not a speedster and I embrace that.' I need to hear this more, as I suppose a bit like you I would like to be where I was before, but that is most unlikely with my dodgy knee. It would actually be unlikely even without my knee troubles.
π€£π€£ youβve written more or less in your first paragraph what I just wrote π€£π€£. We can do this (twice!), weβve done it before remember?! πͺπͺπͺ
Re HU events, my head's up for both 10K and HM, though possibly not on Sunday 14th May due to other commitments, and definitely not on the same day. π
Whether or not my body will let me is a different matter. I'd hoped to be back to a ten mile run on roads and trails this morning, but as my left knee's unhappy I ended up running 3k on roads. Very stupidly I felt the need to compensate for the short distance by trying to run faster up the inclines. Garmin loved it, the knee's not so sure.
As you already know I shall not be volunteering to provide a route description for the HU events. Unless you feel incomprehensible franglais audio guiding (sample: I bet ee cooldn't rrrun dix mille mΓ¨tres) could be beneficial? πππ€£
You don't fancy a same day double then? I don't blame you π I'm nit sure the English sountracknis much more comprehensible than the franglais, but it's certainly funny π Sorry to hear your knee is niggling again though. That must be extremely disappointing and frustrating for you. Fingers crossed it's not to connected to anything and disappears fast π€
I fear the knee problem is mostly connected to my own stupidity and pigheadedness linda9389 . Ah well, will just have to see how things go later this week. Thanks for the sympathy! π
I do hope your knee trouble can be sorted. Both my meniscus tear and arthritis continue to give me problems. All started in August 2020 when I had a bad fall. How did your knee trouble begin and do you know exactly what the problem is?
Thanks for your kindness over61andstilltrying , and sorry to hear you've still got knee problems. For me, this time, it's down to running too many steep, hilly, bumpy fields in one go. Entirely my own fault. Fortunately dialling back on running this week, and doing for walks instead, seems to be fixing it.
Fabulous news. Put me down for the HM. I will be writing HM= 21.1km on the back of my hand!! (I did say this morning that I am going to stick to 10k, after the Liverpool 10 miles, but it seems I have changed my mind ππ)
Oh Linda, I've been hoping this would happen, I'll be on week 3 of retirement so can't imagine being able to cover half marathon but certainly up for a 10k, I could always Jeff it, I plan to build up slowly but 10k won't stretch me too much π
I certainly am and have my running plan ready and waiting, a couple of runs a week around work isn't enough, I have my healthy eating plan ready and waiting and a cupboard full of very tight jeans to fit back into lol, my swimming plan ready and waiting and a couple short trips away booked, I nearly bought a bike π€£π€£π€£poor Willow was having kittens, then I remembered I have nowhere to keep it π
Thank you very much for arranging this Linda. However, you have given me a dilemma!
My NRC HM plan says 8 weeks to go (from today), so that would give me three weeks to play with (which is good). I ran 15k today, through a blustery wind, at my new relaxed recovery pace of 7:30/k. I was a still bit tired at the end and was glad when Mrs BC volunteered to drive to meet me at the cafe bearing clean clothes etc. Molly was less sympathetic and demanded her cafe walk as soon as I got home; Monday being sausage day! We will call that a recovery walk π.
I know there is only 6 and a bit k to go, but I feel that my fitness needs a lot of work. I will probably repeat this weekβs run to see if I can achieve a lower AHR. It was better than last week, but there is still a way to go. No matter; I will sign up for the HM and we will see what, if anything, happens. I can always bail out into a 10k if need be.
The weather, wind apart, was beautiful today; a shirt and shorts only run. Thanks to everyone for the pace guidance last week; I needed reining in!
We'd love to see you at the HM start line BC! But caution needs to be your watchword and yes, of course you could make a switch to the 10k. Another option may be to incorporate a warm up and cool down walk to make up any missing distance (I included a rather long warm up walk in my one and only marathon, although I did save the cool down stagger for after the finish line π)
You mean that I am getting too old for an all run HM π. That may well be right sadly. Walking may be a good idea.
I will see how the next few runs go. The long run doesnβt change too much over the next 3 weeks; we know that I can still do 10 miles, so I can see how the next few weeks go before deciding whether an all run HM is sensible. A part walked HM is still an achievement π
Argghh BC, I missed this. No, no, no! I'm not suggesting you're too old for anything!!! But I don't want to push anyone or to have anyone feeling left out ... π I see my part walked marathon as a massive achievement (for me) and I won't let anyone persuade me otherwise π€£π€£π€£
π so sorry Linda, a poor bit of self centred writing on my part; I wouldnβt want to push anyone or make anyone feel left out either. This is a really supportive running family and we all do what we want/what we can and that is amazing for physical and mental health. Your marathon is amazing π
A relaxed recovery pace of 7:30 min/k seems amazing to me! It demonstrates impressive fitness to me. Did you keep with the same running watch, I can't remember? I am sure mine sometimes produces nonsense heart rate figures. Note to self clean contact areas more regularly. What was you AHR for the run and where would you prefer it? I do realise we are all so different. Happy injury free running to you πππ»ββοΈ
I don't really know, but I sometimes have such odd heart rate readings. Easy run, no big changes in elevation and my heart rate increases in one second up a further 20bpm and stays there. Makes no sense. Also high readings generally for no obvious reason. I have just gently cleaned the back of my watch Garmin Forerunner 35 and given my wrist an extra scrub! Seems like a good idea, usually I forget to think about how much difference it makes.
Some garmin models (my 235 was one of them) are known to occasionally lock on to cadence instead of heart rate. That may be the cause of what you are describing?
Hi >61. I would like my AHR on easy long runs to be back in the 130s rather than the mid/ upper 140s. I was achieving that last year (and prior to that). I have been doing long runs at about 7min/k, so the switch to 7:30 is a big change. We will see what happens. I am still using my Garmin forerunner 35. My average resting heart of 52/54 has stayed the same. I am going to have to run slower to run longer for a while, which is fine; VRBs have made that penny drop!! π
My watch is also a Garmin Forerunner 35. Do you wear your watch for 24hours a day? I only wear mine for runs and sometimes walks when we would like to know how far we have gone and see a map of our route. Consequently it doesn't receive much resting heart rate data. I just put it on and it says average resting heart 64. I just looked at my Garmin graphs and see average pace over the last year is 9:03 min/km and AHR 131bpm. I have found that my knee isn't happy with even a few minutes of increased effort (say 7/10), so I shall keep up the physio/strength exercises and keep the effort at an easy, for the time being.
I like your 131 bpm. I do wear my watch all of the time, so my sleeping heart rate is in my AHR too.
Comparisons between different people donβt really work; too many variables. My worthwhile takeaway from all of this is that I need to back off a bit on long runs if I am to put my in run average heart rate where I would like it to be. Unless the watch cleaning magically fixed it for me.π€
Youβll smash the HM. Iβm sure of it Beachcomber66 . After all, youβre already nearly there. My HM plan started yesterday and itβs given me 12 weeks to go. Iβve barely run any distance since the GSR, but Iβm a stubborn mule with FOMO tendencies, and thereβs no way I want to miss out. However, Iβve come to accept that Jeffing isnβt the cop out I once thought it was, so thatβs what Iβll do if needs be. A changed chipmunk, and a phenomenal Captain Sensible. We can do this! π
I am just going to aim to finish by whatever means I can cheeky, assuming I make the start line! There is talk of a possible trip to Canada sometime in May following a phone call this morning; no decisions made on that yet, but we are now(as of yesterday ) definitely booked to head off to Alaska at the end of July. So at least I have a more settled 2023 diary and I can begin to think about other things now. Order replacing chaos at lastπ
Another yes to adding a 10k option. I still have all the past RunGo routes saved, and have run to our music playlist several times. (But please no βdonkey musicβ if I remember that correctly!?)
I also loved running the Edinburgh one.
It would give also me a real good incentive to start with my 10k training plan now, and with possibly a bit jeffing, I should be able to make it to 10k!
π€£π€£ yes , and as I have there free version of Spotify, the algorithmic gods seemed to gift me that song at least 5-6 times during my 10k run! π«£πππππππ
oh yes, Iβm in for that. Loved the original edition. All my big events are in the autumn this year, so will be nice to focus on something and make some new VRBs along the way!
Oh yes. Good idea. I started the year thinking it would be a quiet one and here I am facing 2 big autumn challenges. Oh well. At least itβs one block of training to cover both events, if thatβs a silver lining?
Iβm going to stick my neck out and say yes to the HM. I was planning on building up to it this year so it will be good to have a goal. A 10 mile or 10k would be a good option to fall back on perhaps. Iβm struggling to build back up to 10k after the winter at the moment but the lighter nights mean more time to get out so things should improve. Letβs do this! πββοΈπ
Excellent! Motivation right there. I'm noticing the day gradually lengthening at last. Like you, I find everything so much easier when the evenings are lighter. Look forward to seeing you on the HM start line together π
Can I swap to the 10k please? Life, the universe and everything has conspired against me and Iβm only up to 8 miles on my training plan π. Iβm still plodding away though but wonβt be ready for the weekend π³ Thanks
Me! Me! Iβve just checked the dates and Iβll be on holiday in Italy the week before so I think the running gods are telling me thatβs a great way to spend a taper week π The stars seem to be aligned and Iβm in for the HM π
As Iβm a bling slut Iβm even going to see if I can sign up for a virtual race that day and get some bling π to commemorate the day. If I find anything Iβll post here in case anyone else wants to do the same.
But itβll be such a fabulous experience to run on the same day as my VRBs π and the thought will definitely keep me going.
My running is going really well atm. I even got up early at the weekend to run my long run and was back home at 1015! Iβm not an early riser generally but we were going out for lunch with friends and I couldn't face doing it afterwards. I even found it quite beautiful with no one else to share the roads π₯° β¦. apart from this little cutie. She posed for me while I took a photo but ran off as soon as I approached her βΉοΈ
It's a joy to hear you so positive about your running IP. What better way to celebrate than an early long run π₯° I find running early is easier physically, with nothing but breakfast or an energy bar weighing me down; but more than that, I find the quiet and stillness make the run so much more mindful and consequetly more intense (in the best possible way).Group bling is a tempting thought. Do you think we should all have a taper week in Italy as well??? π
While my preference is for morning runs I have occasionally gone out in the afternoon and I find everything βlooserβ and more flexible. But evening runs are a no-no as I just have little energy by the time the day goes!
A group taper in Italy would be soooooo much fun!!!
This group taper idea in Italy is causing big smiles here. Not that I have ever had a taper week. π€£ So good to read that your running is going well. π
I like the idea of a HM t shirt if one day I manage the distance. My serious running friend in Norfolk once offered some of her many event t shirts, but I would only want to wear one that I had earnt myself. I am one of those not interested in bling people. We are all so different aren't we? I currently mostly wear my C25k t shirt, not having a 10k or 10mile one. When you mention a virtual race offering bling I had a look to see if there was a virtual event offering a t shirt, but just got rather muddled in the process π€
Oh Irishprincess thatβs the best idea about bling. Genius! I, like you, am easily pleased when shiny bling is concerned, and itβs often what gets me over the finish line. Thank you, I shall be signing up for a virtual event too! π
A virtual HUHM sounds great (as does a 10k). I'm marshalling at our local (non-virtual) HM on Sun 14 so it might be tricky finding time for the HM but we'll see π€ if not it'll be a 10k. So please include me in π.
Happy running everyone (or if on the IC then all good wishes for speedy recovery)
Fabulous! Marshalling is such fun. Two HMs in one day, on both the dark side and the light side? We'll count you in, one way or the other (and there's always the week after to do the HM if you opt for 10k on 14th ... just sayin' ... π)
Thank you for hosting and for the team arranging a HUHM and 10k too. I am back up to 10k, my second time of working back up to 10k since my last April bad knee flare up. If my knee lets me I may be up to my first ever HM distance by May 14th, currently not sure, but I shall continue with my easy paced runs and strength/physio too. So, I hope to join in knee permitting either HM or 10k. πππ»ββοΈ
I am poor at tech, never had a single play list. Tend to listen to Desert Island discs and also NRC guided runs. The Run with Lopez one was so good, incredible. Not really a guided run more an interview between Coach Bennett and Lopez. Lopez's story is amazing he was one of the 'Lost boys of Sudan'. I shan't say more, but do listen, if you haven't already, either as 3 x 30minutes which cheekychipmunks did or 1 x 90minutes as I did.
That's real progress now and to look forward toward the HM is a good sign that you have confidence in your current strategy π It will be great to have you on whichever start line is best for you on 14th.The Lopez interview sounds fascinating ... I'll try to fit it in on a quiet long run π
I am sorry to say that I wouldn't describe myself at having confidence in my knee at all. I am trying to run at a very easy pace and hoping my knee will cope even as I edge my distance up. I would like a little increase in pace, but I am trying to find enjoyment in other aspects of running. πππ»ββοΈ
Thank you. I hope so. At my last physio appointment the physiotherapist gave me the OK to work up to the half marathon distance. That was before Christmas some time. Since then there was a period of physio exercises being abandoned due to visitors and then I took a while to get back to the exercises. Also tried some intervals, so my knee is not as good as it was but I shall try to listen to it speaking to me very carefully and act accordingly. I look forward to reading your reaction to Run with Lopez. ππββοΈ
I wholeheartedly recommend the Run with Lopez runs. I opted for the 3 x 30 minute runs and the time flew by. An incredible and inspirational story. β€οΈ
Oh I would love to Linda but thatβs the day of my trail 10k π¬ not sure Iβm up to extending it to a trail Half! Potentially though, I could do it on the 21st? I could do both options then??!!! Ok, Iβve just talked myself into it π€£π€£. Iβd be delighted to think of some toons too π
Fabulous! Done deal then π. Thanks for organising this Linda, itβs given us all something to look forward to for the last few weeks of the winter π
Definitely interested Linda - although not sure what distance I would be up for at the moment as it very much depends on how consistently I am able to run over the next couple of months!π
Oh, excellent! It will be lovely to have you along too π There's no need to commit on distance until the last minute, and I know you are still taking it easy and testing the post covid ground right now, but it's there as a motivational carrot should you be hungry π
TailChaser mentioned this to me this morning! She thinks I will still have the fitness from the Stratford half a few weeks before. I have potentially got a 60 mile bike ride that weekend but it is a possible maybeβ¦β¦
Weβll keep you going. Channel that annoyance into your legs and get a virtual bit of bling. We can always get it etched with the same Shakespeare quote.
Sorry to bore the pants off everyone with my heart rate measuring issues, but I have just come back from a 5k which I ran at 6:49 pace (instead of doing intervals really). I felt great throughout and on finishing, until I looked at my AHR which was 159 with a max of 176β¦.82% in the red zone 5. That is crazy. I have never had a score which looks like that. I wasnβt remotely out of breath at any point in the run, and my heart is tripping along at a happy 66 as I write this post. My VO2 max has dropped off to 36!!
Looking at the heart rate profile, it seems to jump up to 160 very quickly from the start and then rise slowly after that. That contrasts with runs over the last 6 months where the first section is part of a continuous gradual increase. The only thing I did notice was that the watch was slipping about a bit on my wrist; long sleeves donβt help.
I need to get to the bottom of this so; new watch or chest monitor (or both)? Any suggestions (not involving buying a bike!) gratefully received!π€―
Mine regularly (almost always) reads numbers like that π - as have all my previous Garmins ... π€·ββοΈ - but at least it's consistent! A chest strap is supposed to be more reliable though isn't it.
I have done some reading around. Being too loose or too tight can cause problems and in cold weather the blood flow can take a while to build up; there is suggestion of having a longer than usual warm up (ten minutes) and recording that as a way of getting the blood flow at the right level pre run. Then there is the tendency for the watch to pick up cadence and present that as heart rate. The band is supposed to be more accurate as you say. I am going to explore bands and see what I can come up with; there is no point in having important readings in which I now have zero confidence.π
Youβve probably said before BC so apologies for asking, but what watch have you got? Also, it is supposed to be a snug fit, so that definitely wonβt have helped.
Moving it about on my wrist as I sit here increases the heart rate reading β¦sometimes by as much as 20bpm and it then comes back slowly to its former reading. I will be more careful next time I wear it and roll my sleeve back a bit. Still thinking about a band though.
My old watch used to be affected by sweat, rain and wind, especially if I didnβt tighten it up enough. Itβs about a year younger than your 35 so they could have the similar technology?
Thanks TC. It probably is the same technology. Why I should suddenly start failing to fasten my watch on tightly enough is beyond me! See what happens on Saturday morning. If I still have a problem I will buy myself an additional birthday present π; might do that anyway.
Thanks very much. I am going to try a band. That said, the dreaded lurgy has struckβ¦horrible chest cough, so I think that I will miss the next two runs. Mrs BC transferred it to me. An early birthday present π
Hi linda9389, Iβd love to join for the HM please! There, Iβve said it so now I have to do it! π€£ As long as my body allows & I appreciate the option to reduce to 10k if my injuries decide to join me again. Love the idea of a Strava group for extra motivation. Thanks for organising ππ½
Fabulous! Welcome to this forum. We will give you all the encouragement we can! Take a look at the pinned posts for more information on training for your first HM and let us know how it's going. More on the new Strava group very soon π
Hello, I am very late to this but Iβd really like to sign up for the HUHM. Your timing is excellent, I am doing an HM plan which finishes at the end of April but have hesitated to sign up to a real-life marathon because Iβm now so slow, and the nearest HM to me geographically (Black Dog in Bungay) is a bit too soon. This will really keep me going!
Itβs interesting to see how many others are struggling to get back to their ideal fitness. Is this post-Covid? It still is for me, after Covid last April.
I so much enjoyed the HUHM in spring 2021 and Iβm looking forward to another one!
uld like to be included I will hopefully be running the Bristol Great run Half Marathon on the 14th May subject to non injury. So could I be included on your virtual HM run event please
