2 year runniversary today (or is it?) πŸ€”

I wasn’t sure where to post this but seeing as today marks my 2 year runniversary of completing C25K, which has seen me do better than I ever imagined I could, I felt this was the appropriate place, for now anyway 😊. With the stupendous support from this amazing forum, I remember being so excited to complete my first 5k, 8k, 10k, 10 miles, and now a few HMs under my belt too. Some were amazing runs, an awful lot were so so, and more than a fair few were absolutely dire! But I have loved every single minute, the energy it gives me, the sense of achievement, and the sense of being part of something bigger than I am. I love scouring websites for running things I just don’t need, when I go for a walk, I’m always thinking ooooh this would be a lovely surface to run on, and I love seeing other runners out and about, saying hello, and enjoying that camaraderie. I have seen parts of the beautiful countryside around here at daybreak, animals that otherwise I wouldn’t get to see, I’ve run in conditions that would make your hair curl, and overall am so incredibly grateful for running and everyone here. I knew I was definitely doomed when I bought my first Runners World magazine ages ago!

So, back to the here and now. How did I celebrate today? I ran W2R3 of C25K! I have had to bring it back down to basics due to injury. Without boring the pants off everyone, I realised that even though I probably could keep going, I really needed to give my leg time to rest while keeping active at the same time. It’a a bit frustrating as I can feel I’m losing fitness a bit , not gaining it 🀣, but heck, C25K did me proud first time round, so I figure it’ll see me right again. In the meantime I so miss my long runs but I am where I am and patience is apparently a virtue!

Anyway, thanks to everyone on this amazing forum, and I hope everyone is having a smashing day 😁😁😁.

Happy runniversary Kate ! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ 😁You achieved so much !

I think after injury you chose the right track back and you are well on your way again !

I know what you mean about missing longer runs , although I didn't quite manage the 10 miles I did enjoy the ones on the way !

I'm sure with your determination you will be back there before too long ...

ATM, my running shoes are on standby !

Thank you so much Ian 😁. You have been just fab these last 2 years, it is always a pleasure to read your posts and see pictures of Misty πŸˆβ€β¬›. I hope that with the same quiet determination I had last time round I’ll get there eventually! Glad to hear those shoes are on standby 😁.

I can totally relate to everything you r said about scouting websites, checking out new running locations while walking, runners camaraderie, lovely places and stinking weather! It must make you so proud looking back over the past couple of years.

Wishing you a good recovery from your injury without too much frustration along the way ❀️

Thanks very much! In my head I must have spent literally thousands, thank goodness I haven’t! But I’m already wondering what to get 2nd time round 🀣 after completing the program again.

I started c25k as a cheaper way to exercise compared with going to the gym. It wasn’t!! Better in so many ways though. You should definitely plan a graduation 2.0 treat!

Thanks so much! Me too - I’m trying very hard to be patient 🀣. It’s strange stop starting - the rest of me is in good shape and just wants to keep going. 😊

Congratulations Frenc, you’ve done brilliantly in 2 years. Going back to c25k after injury is a great idea and many of us have done it. You know it works and you can strengthen up slowly again.

It’s always nice to put a runniversary post on c25k to let them know what is achievable afterwards. When I started I never thought I’d be able to run more than 5k!

Maybe, don’t talk much about injury though - that’s something they will find out about later. πŸ˜‰

Happy belated runniversary to you! Your description of running is just wonderful.

I'm sorry your long runs are being curtailed, but I know (from firsthand experience) that redoing C25K can bring a whole new appreciation for running, and those long runs especially. I am sure you will look back and see that this has made you a stronger and more confident runner - savour the journey 😊

Thank you so much Linda! Well, I’m in good company if you’ve redone it too. I still have to remember to slow down though 🀣. Have I learnt nothing!
