Say hello to my Halloweenies! πŸŽƒ

Popped into Decathlon yesterday and was greeted by a whole rack of the shoes I'd been eyeing up for months online and that I'd never seen instore. They had both the sizes I wanted to try, colours I liked, and they were on offer, so of course they jumped into my basket.

Took them out for a 5.5k run today and they performed exactly as per the reviews I'd seen: super soft and comfortable, very lightweight, and perfect for short runs on roads. They're not built for trails, speed or distance, and I doubt they'd suit anyone who needs a supportive shoe. They might not last forever either.

However, who cares? At a mere 27 euros, not me! I believe the model I got, Kalenji Jogflow 500.1 women's, is currently Β£24.99 in the UK for the two colourways on offer. Full price for men's and women's models, in other colourways, is Β£39.99.

They're actually more orange than they look in the picture, hence the name. Happy Halloween!

Do they do a size 47 wide fitting? 🀣🀣

They do actually do a size 47 HeavyFoot , and I'd say the fit's quite wide! You'd have to pay full price though, 39 €. I can hear you weeping from here... 😭🀣

Thanks, Cmoi. I’m hoping to get a few more months out of my Hokas (at that price…) but keep an eye out for bargains.

It's made up for the disappointment of being sent the wrong size hybrid shoes linda9389 , and at that price I can still afford hybrids as well! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‡πŸ€£ xxx

Thanks RunBrianRun ! I needed to scratch the shoe-buying itch and these were such a bargain it was obviously meant to be. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

😍😍😍 I wish I lived nearer a decathlon!

You should avoid Decathlon at all costs if you value your bank balance. 🀣

Our nearest Decathlon's an hour away and we only went in because we had time to kill while waiting for minor repairs to our motorhome. Ended up spending €145, most of which was on walking shoes and trousers for my husband. Getting the motorhome fixed - leaky tap, flickering light, and sticking shower vent - was cheaper!

My last visit (for running togs) also had us (actually, me) buying an inflatable mattress (and foot pump).

You can buy online MissUnderstanding ! Though I'm glad I tried them on because my other running shoes have all been EU 38.5 / UK 5.5 and the Decathlon shoes don't come in half sizes. Decided on EU 39, which the label says is UK 5.5. So confusing!

Aww, I haven’t got a picture on my post, but that is amazing value. Don’t think I’d get away with it with my funny feet though ☹️

How odd re the photo Sandie1961 , it's definitely showing up for me at the moment. It's on my Strava too if you're desperate! My feet are wide, high instep and fairly high arch, and these shoes feel like squishy-soft slippers. Definitely for comfortable runs, nothing demanding!

Funny, it’s appeared now πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Sounds like my feet. I went for a ski boot fitting to try to finally get some I can wear all day and the guy said there was really only 1 type he could recommend given my peculiarities πŸ₯² Cost me Β£515 πŸ˜–πŸ˜–πŸ˜–

Eek! We've not skied since we moved to France. Ironic isn't it? Still have all our gear in the loft though. πŸ€”

Always the same isn’t it? If it’s on your doorstep, you never quite get round to it!

When I was teaching I was usually only free during school holidays, and often not then. Also, if our nearest resorts have good snow, there's every chance it's snowed enough where we live to make it difficult to get out of the house!

Sandie1961 profile image
Sandie1961Half Marathon in reply to Cmoi

Cross country skiing from your house? 😁πŸ€ͺ

Cmoi profile image
CmoiMarathon in reply to Sandie1961

I've been tempted to try skiing from home, but it'd be a bit too risky.

Husband once went snowshoeing from our house. Meanwhile I was phoning him, in vain, to say that the car had just slid off the road and could he come to help please.

That reminds me, I must check that the all-weather tyres on my car are indeed approved for winter use, and also put snowchains in. Obligatory as from Tuesday morning, and apparently the gendarmes are going to get serious about it this year.

Sandie1961 profile image
Sandie1961Half Marathon in reply to Cmoi

We’ve got all terrain tyres and snow socks, not that we’re likely to need them in the UK any time soon!

Cmoi profile image
CmoiMarathon in reply to Sandie1961

Temperature's still in the mid-twenties here, definitely Indian summer rather than Autumn. Can't decide whether that means we'll have no winter, or whether we'll be hit super-hard.

I know! We should have packed summer clothes for Venice last weekend. I was roasting in black jeans πŸ₯΅

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathon

lovely they are! πŸ₯°πŸ‘. I notice lots of runners in these during races. I always look at what shoes folk are running in. Predictably, amongst club runners, I see plenty of Nike Next %. At over Β£200 they’re not in most runners Radar 😁

If your shoes are as good as all their clothes you should be well happy πŸ™‚

As you know misswobble I've got several items of Decathlon trail gear which I love, so I'm definitely hoping to be friends with the Halloweenies for a while!

I’ve got their Evadict trail shorts and the matching cold weather trail top. I love them both 😍

Cmoi profile image
CmoiMarathon in reply to misswobble

My Evadict trail clothing includes capris, skort and top, and my hydration vest is from Decathlon too. Also have their non-trail shorts, socks and tops, including a couple of bits from the kids' range! πŸ§’πŸ˜›

same, I’ve got the evadict trail skort x 2, 1 pair shorts, 1 pair capris and 1 pair full length (they only get used rarely….) but I love them for all the pockets etc., … πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I like their soft flasks too. Son got me three of em, plus two tees.

I loved their run skirt with the pleats detail at the back - to one side. Looks like they stopped doing it

Madge50 profile image
Madge50Marathon

yes, I’ve got two…..one - the skirt is very faded now having worn it nearly all spring/summer for quite a good couple of years…..I managed to get another one on line - but quite a while ago now - I do keep looking occasionally…..Mind you the shorts are pretty good too - slightly longer than the skort, so I’m liking them at the mo…..might see if I can get another pair of those.. ….πŸ€”β€¦.and the soft flasks - again I had two 250ml , they last ages, one finally got a tiny hole in…..so that one had to go…..but I’ve got a 500ml as well….

Good stuff! …….I feel a bit of browsing and shopping coming on…..πŸ˜‰
