HI all, I have just received my "not this time" email from the London Marathon Ballot. Do we have any successful vrbs to support April?
Not this time (again)!: HI all, I... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
Not this time (again)!
Not me. I was so disappointed. I did apply for a charity place too though, but I’m not holding out much hope for that. I’ll try every year until I get in, or I’m physically too old! 😅
Good luck with the charity place! I have everything crossed for you.
I too will keep going with the ballot!!! This was only my second attempt so I feel it wasn't my turn yet anyway.
Thanks W7. I’m pretty sure I won’t be successful, but it’s something else to pin a tiny hope on. This is my 3rd rejection from the main ballot.
I was super surprised to get a place for 2023, this is my fourth year for trying.
Got Covid after my last ultra run, and life has been stressful, so this news was just what I needed. 🎉
The LM should make an interesting change from off-road ultras Nikasa777 !
Yes it will!
Bizarrely my husband ran London in 1998 and I said then I’d like to run it one day! 25 years later I’m getting the chance.
2 weeks before London, hubby will be running the SDW50, so there’ll be lots of training for both of us.
Nice timing all round then! 😀 The LM is way too scary for me, give me trails any day.
I too prefer the trails, but will be great to experience London just once.
I too received a “not this time” email… mine came through as their site crashed so had to wait 45 minutes for the no.
What other marathons do people recommend?
Good luck to everyone who got a place! I can’t wait to read about your training 🥳
There's a huge variety of marathons bforts , from big city ones on flat roads to trail events on varied terrain and with significant elevation gain. Personally I'd hate the LM even though it's supposed to be every runner's dream. Here's a list from Runner's World: runnersworld.com/uk/events/...
That must have been a tense 45 minutes! I probably waited about 10 seconds- that was long enough do go from -"I hope I get in" to "how on earth will I fit in all the training" to "why did I apply" an back to hoping to get in just in time to be disappointed by the result!! Hope you find another marathon which you like the look of.I will stick to the Half marathons and try for the ballot again next year.
I'm in! Luckily I have been ramping my running up to half marathon distance and did a 12 miler at the weekend. I had stopped running so this was me getting backa strong foundation. Not for any reason other than I wanted to be able to run a good distance on a whim. Looks like I'll need to start getting the miles back in the legs.
Well done on the successful entries, mine was a not this time. I can't complain as it was my first application.
Not this time Week7. I would have felt a bit greedy if it had come up, especially as I really wanted cheekychipmunks to get a place.
