Hello runners! Sorry this Events post is a bit late but it’s here now and it’s time to tell us what you have planned for June! We’re expecting big numbers because June is typically a busy month for events everywhere 🤗
And apologies if you have a race today and we didn’t send out a pom pom shout-out for you ☹️ But you know we’re always with you cheering you along. Good luck if you’re heading for the start line now and don’t forget those race reports afterwards 🍀🍀
But in the meantime, tell us about all your other June events in the comments below and we’ll add your details to the spreadsheet. We’ll then be able to send you out with a pom pom flourish on the Friday before your race to give you lots of cheers and good luck wishes 🥳
Hi IP! Katnap and I have the Two Castles Run on 12th June. It’s one of my favourites and Katnap has never done it before. It’s 10k between Warwick and Kenilworth Castles and is a little ‘undulating’. We are both very unprepared for it but I’m hoping we’re seasoned enough now 😬🤞
We also have a team event on the evening of 24th June, the Run for Beer Relay. We are part of the Stratford upon Avon parkrun team. We each have to run a two mile circuit as quickly as possible to earn a bottle of beer each at the end of it. 🍻😋
It might be romantic but I suspect Katnap will be well ahead of me on the day IP, the last few weeks have knocked the stuffing a bit. Maybe a week of marathon training will bring some speed back. 👍
The race in Rothley I think is always mid week and it starts at 7:15pm. It is sponsored by a financial services company and all profits go to a local hospice so a really good cause. Its my first time doing this race and I've spoken to someone who has done it in the past and there are a couple of hills to watch out for.
Sandringham will be fun. It is very close to where I was brought up so brings back lots of memories.
Hi doing the Swansea half next weekend and not great timing as I’m in Dublin and have been drinking Guinness this weekend on a long planned trip. Kind of dread/excitement for next weekend. Have only run 10 miles in training so am going to give it a go. Most likely in my very old running shoes with holes in them as my new ones rub. Send me good vibes please!
Haha, well Guinness is supposed to be good for you so just think of all those extra benefits 😇
If you’ve done 10 miles in training then you’ll be good to go for the HM. Most training plans take you to 10 miles and the atmosphere and adrenaline gets you through the rest.
I bet the atmosphere in Swansea will be fantastic and of course you’ll have the pom poms and cheering from your VRBs here 🥳
I’m racing the Louth Run4Life on Sun, 26th June A 5k loop incorporating the Hubbard Hills. Should be a fun day out as it’s going to be a family affair 🙂
