Well all I can say is that I did it and didn’t bail at 10k like I feared I might. I don’t know though - I was definitely no quicker and my legs had had it towards the end, but I guess I’m not taking into account my very limited mileage of late, no yoga, and I’m at the end of a heavy cold. So Mrs, get a grip and be proud! 😅
Jeff and I will never be mates. He helped me out today I suspect, but I much prefer the euphoric feeling of straight running. I used a 2:1 ratio and towards the end I outwardly groaned when my watched buzzed to run! 🙄😅 One thing I was able to do was use more of the common and run a few hills. More interesting than 5 million 0.5k circuits in March! 😅 But today was THE last HM up there! Do you hear me? 😂
Thanks roseabi and linda9389 for organising this. The RunGo app was eerily synced with my Garmin for the most part, and the Spotify playlist was great! The Wombles put a spring in my step! 😅

Well done cheekychipmunks I know what you mean about Jeffing! It feels strange to walk and run alternately🙁 but I have to say I doubt I’d have done my HM without it. Next time (and there will be a next time) I’ll leave Jeff behind and see how I get on, as long as I don’t have any injuries between now and then 🤞
Yes you’re right David. It’s hard to get into a rhythm isn’t it? But like I said, I don’t think I’d have managed the full distance this time after the preparation (of lack of) that I’ve had.
Oh heavens IP, you were sooo close - the common is across the road from airport! Wouldn’t it have been a hoot for you to look down on takeoff and see me trotting around?! 😅 Have a great trip. 🥰
I know, I know! I offered to cook. My legs might protest later though!
It sure was cheeky chipmunks.. enjoy your rest and food.. I'm sure going to enjoy mine.. that's if I ever get off thus forum 🤪 reading the reports of our fellow finishers so far 🏃🏃♀️🎽👏🏅
Congratulations CC on running the HU Half Marathon despite the end of a heavy cold, at least you can thank Jeff for helping you with the run, did you have Flossie running with you?.
Thanks Al! It was fortunate a had a hefty tissue in my pocket. 🤧 Oh yes, Flossie came along and after an initial dart around, she slotted in behind me! 🏃♀️🐕
What a fabulous achievement!! Well done for hanging in there and finishing a really arduous run. You did it though and it's another HM completed 👏👏👏 Lots to try and experiment with in the future. Enjoy your afternoon and evening knowing YOU DID IT!!!
Aww thanks GTFC. It was my most ill-prepared run ever I think. I barely ran more than a few kms each week since the GSR, and nothing more than 7k, so Jeff made today possible.
It was very squiggly wasn’t it Frenc! Lots of dog walkers so quite a few trail changes on the fly! My legs wanted to go home at around 14k. They’d had enough, but I had a stern word! 😅
Well done cheeky! I don’t know how you do those HMs up there and I’m most impressed you braved it again! Next time it’ll be the streets of Bath? Much more interesting.
I’m with you on the Jeff thing. It has its place, and I think this was one of them, but as you say, nothing beats the sense of achievement of running it all. Now chill 👍💪🤗
Fantastic CC! Running around and around like that takes such determination, to continue to 21k after a few weeks of very little running AND to not leave Jeff behind half way through ... all take even more determination! Go you!!!
I did indeed Sola. Sensible me would have run the 10k, but I don’t know where she is! I’m glad you enjoyed your run too. It’s great to think we were all running more or less together, at least for some of the time. 😀
Well done Cheeky. Somehow I never doubted that you wouldn’t be able to resist doing the full HM 😂 Nobody could ever accuse you of being a quitter. Hope you enjoyed your post run Sunday lunch with a cheeky G&T 🍸
Haha thanks Sandie! Sometimes I think I need to cut myself some slack. 😅 I’m pleased I went the distance and that I gave Jeffing a go. Not for me, but today it was useful. 😀
Yes, I’ve eaten enough to sink a ship this afternoon. 😅
Thanks BS. 🙏🏻 It’ll be my first and last Jeff and I will definitely do more HMs, just not where I ran yesterday. It’s way too hard work to make it fun, and you’d think I’d have learned my lesson after running 2 HMs up there in March. But no! Next time will be the relatively easy streets of Bath with no Jeff in sight! 😅
What a chipmunk you are! Inspirational! I do hope that your body has coped with your exertion so soon after a heavy cold. Enjoy your well earned rest. 👏🎉🏃♀️🐕💪💥🏁🏅
VERY well done for persevering 👍. I don’t think I could run a HM round a restricted space!! And while recovering from a cold! I am interested to hear that you don’t really like run/walk intervals…..I haven’t tried Jeffing in a serious or planned way but was thinking of giving it a go 🤔
Thanks SS. Actually I was able to utilise way more of the common than I did in March, but it did mean more hills. I won’t be doing it again, and I’ll be more mindful of running with a cold too. It had mostly gone, but I definitely wasn’t 100%. Crazy running lady strikes again! 😅
No, Jeffing isn’t for me. I’m good at getting into a rhythm on long runs and it didn’t allow me to. But I probably wouldn’t have made the distance at all without it last weekend, so it does have its uses. 😀
