Virtually all of my runs are trail. Road runs do feel easier than trails and one thing I learned during the summer is that if I pick up a persistent niggle (in my case a repeat calf / peroneal injury) or take an extended break, the first steps back to fitness, for me at any rate, are best taken on roads. This came out in a discussion with an ultra runner this summer. Obvious when I thought about it; any muscles connected with balance have to work overtime on trails, your foot rarely lands the same way twice in a row and tendons and ligaments need to be stronger too.
Also, is there potential for that route to turn into a Strava art Christmas tree? π Obviously too early right now, but you know, over the next few weeks... π π€£
Good morning GTFC, just to tell you that I completed my 30th Parkrun this morning, another sub 31 minute one in a time of 30.58, lovely sunny morning to run.
The only place that I have had sub 31 minutes 5Ks is at Drumpellier Parkrun, it is a flat course with only a few bends, apart from one at Stirling my parkrun 5K runs times are between 31 minutes to 33 minutes.
Welcome back GTFC. That looks like a good run; nice mix of coast and country. Your average heart rate suggests that you are still very fit. In good nick as we say up here.π
That was the 3rd thing I noticed...1st the potential for a Christmas tree route, then 11 miles, great run, and finally 128 average heart rate!!! Maybe I could manage that if I just went out for 5 minutes π
