Just how far could I get in 35mins πŸ€”

Good morning runners! Happy Friday!

Today I set off on a 35 min recovery run, the second run in my shiny new Glycerins 😁.

I set off with good intentions, steady warm up pace BUT at around the 2km mark I felt very good and wanted to open up a bit and test out the pace in the new kicks 🀣

I knew the warm up 1st km had likely ruled out a 5k PB but figured I could get close and then the idea hit to see how far I could get in the 35mins I had to run.

I certainly wasnt sprinting but hit a decent level 8 out of 10 for a couple of km and was surprised when I got a dead on 26min 5km (second fastest ever even with a warm up km!)

6km in about 31:40 then I dropped off the pace a bit to finish with 6.6km in 35 minutes.

Very happy with today's efforts, gym tonight then a rest day tomorrow before 10 mile run Sunday 😁

Have a great weekend everyone πŸ‘πŸ»

Well done. Good result and we all have to let go when we feel like it even though it was supposed to be a recovery runπŸ˜‚ How were the new shoes?

They were excellent! Looking forward to the next one 😁

Well done! πŸ‘

I can do those sort of paces but I couldn't sustain them for 35 minutes. Not yet, anyway.

I'm finding the speed runs and interval training done during the NRC HM training are really helping with stamina and the ability to shift up and down through the gears a lot easier than previously πŸ‘πŸ»

Good to read this. I did my first interval run from the same plan today. Enjoyed it immensely β€” especially the bit where I’m told to stop and put my hands on my head to recover; I even felt a bit like an athlete… !!πŸ˜‚

Yeah stick with them, I didn't think I'd enjoy interval running at all but it's really helping, I don't stop between intervals but slow to a jog or a fast walk...and yes do the hands on head thing 😁😁 I've found now I can get my breath under control and my heart rate down very quickly πŸ‘πŸ»

Initially, I didn’t as I’m accustomed to keep going in some form. But then Coach Cory insisted. He did so! The roll down with head towards toes was a new one for me in a running session. (I do plenty of these in yoga.) It does seem to help calm the HR β€” though have to watch out coming back up!! πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Well done πŸ‘ that was a great session and another reminder for me to have a look at that NRC app.

Thanks Brian, yeah the NRC app has been really helpful, especially since deciding to train back up in distance while actually following a plan rather than just winging it like I did the first time 🀣, Coach Bennett can be a little off putting at first as it all feels a little softer in style to what we are raised with in the UK but after a few runs and actually taking in what he and the other coaches on there say, it really makes a lot of sense and is improving my running a lot πŸ‘πŸ»

Great run! I’m doing a few time based runs on my HM plan and really like them and will do more when I’m finished. In a way, they’re easier measured.

Thank you 😁 I'm enjoying all the different runs on the HM plan πŸ‘πŸ»

The guy’s a legend 😁. Coach Cory is good too. Sally MacRae is kick-ass. All good stuff πŸ‘

Nice one! I think there are advantages to staying off slow.

Thank you, yeah I often find I've had a better run if I start with a decent warm up, between 1 and 3km seems to be the sweet spot.

Great run. I have been doing some runs to time rather than distance on my HM plan too. I ended up running faster than intended, but felt better for that! Makes a change.

Thank you 😁, it's certainly nice to just cut loose and go fast sometimes πŸ‘πŸ»
