3 months ago I was happily training for the HM which came to an end on 12th March with a 13km run.
In early February I attended my routine mammogram and a week later got the call back for further investigation. For the next few weeks various investigations confirmed that I had breast cancer. A bit of a shock but I am lucky. It was detected early and my treatment has been text book with very few side effects. I had the lump removed on 13th March, radiotherapy the last week of April gave it a few weeks to work through my system.
Finally, on 22nd May I put on the running gear and followed the C25K week 4 run following advice from the medical team of starting with walk/run. My ankles and legs are feeling the effects of not running for 10-weeks (even though I walked regularly)!
Happy to be running regularly again. ππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈ

Oh wow Iβm so sorry you had to go through this but at least you found it early on and dealt with it. You are a star!! 10 weeks is a longer while but steadily following this plan you should be back to HM distance soon enough if this is what you want. All the best to you in this chapter of your run journey!
Sorry to hear what you've had to deal with..but you have and you can move forward stronger for it I hope πI had cancer( oral ) nearly 4 years ago now and Running has given me so much...
Good luck getting back to your HM training πͺ xxx
Thanks, I see getting back to running as a step back to normality. The diagnosis and treatment take over your life for a while. I hope all is well with you post treatment.
well done for staying strong and carrying on with everything
I know it must have been awful, I have friends and family who have gone through cancer, but you are strong and you have taken back control of your life.
