Went out for an HM yesterday. My planning was to follow my usual route and take it easy. It's good to have a nice simple plan! Beforehand, I felt OK but not great (hence the "take it easy").
Once I'd started out, found that my cadence felt higher than usual so I decided to try and keep a high cadence whilst running easy. Ended up with Garmin telling me that I'd beaten my HM PB!
Picking up on a post by Tasha99 , it seems that working on cadence can result in speeding up. Since I hadn't planned to monitor it beforehand, I didn't have cadence displayed on my watch; just relied on how it felt.
Prior to that, I'd taken a week off to let knee issues settle down, I guess that must have helped. Badly timed for the HUHM event on Sunday but I should be OK for a 10k then and I'm chuffed to have a new PB.
