Morning runners, hope everyone has had a great start to the week!
I decided on an unplanned run this morning, didn't have a route or distance in mind. Thought maybe a 15km just to top my January running distance up nicely... Decided to run steadily all the way, no heroics, wanted to average about 6.30/km which is about my cruise control pace. Warmed up after about 3km and had to fight the urge to speed up.
Got overtaken by a young lady who was running at a really good pace at about 7km and really had to fight the urge to speed up!
Again at 10km a fellow runner left me in his wake and I kept telling myself not to try to chase him down! π€£ (Anyone who's read some of my old posts will know I have issues with competition π€£)
15km and I'm close to home, I still feel good and choose to turn off and keep going! The weather is good and conditions under foot are probably the best they have been in a while so I make the decision to go for the HM!
I get to 20k and remember how absolutely shattered I was last time I got this far, literally had nothing left that first time. This time was different, my legs felt fine, my breathing was good and even the uphill section I was on wasn't going to stop me!
Passed the half marathon distance and decided to keep going to round it up to 22km
Very very pleased! Could I have kept going for the metric marathon? Yes, another 4km was doable but I really didn't feel the urge.
Do I want to go further? I'm not sure, I've come a long way in the 4 to 5 months since I started running. I won't say no though as I have a habit of surprising myself π€£π€£
Have a great hump day all and if your running I hope it's a good one ππ»

Thanks Al, yes I got close last time but had to stop as was spent! Had plenty in the tank this time though and was able to finish the HM and do a little extra just to keep the numbers even π€£
Blimey, 22km!!! π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅I had a feeling you'd be hitting the HM, well done πππ bet your pretty chuffed with that, fast pace too, the other πββοΈπββοΈ must have been flying π¨π¨
Going out soon, not run since sat, feels like ages! π€βΉ
Have a good one mate ππ» yeah well pleased with that today, just kept to basic pace and tried to keep my mind occupied, plenty of music and had coach Bennett on for first 15km, no coaching after that, even sent a few messages at about 16km just in case I didn't make it back π€£π€£
Has anyone ever told you youβre CRAZY!!π€ͺ 22km !!!!! π³π³Thatβs definitely the big boys running group now- Epic achievement!!!π π πππ¦π¦π¦π¦π¦
Thank you Bambi, yeah I think I got my seat at the big boys table now π€£ did some stretching after and a hot bath to relax but my legs are certainly letting me know they are not happy with my life choices! π€£
22km baby!! woohoo!! That is insane π π π Congrats!!! Sounds like some good running there. The urge not to speed up and overtake is REAL πͺπͺπ Hope that bath is HOT and your legs are glowing with your efforts and not protesting too much. You should feel pretty chuffed with today's efforts, abfab π
Thank you! π I've just had to walk upstairs sideways π€£ that's how tough it's been on the legs! Not the knee though, that's been brilliant since I added the knee support πͺπ»π€π»
Congratulations on your HM and a bit more. You did really well to keep the pace down to get the mileage completed. You must be super pleased. Well done you ππππ π
