You'll be getting bored with Southsea Landmarks reports by now ....

So I'll content myself with showing you a picture of the route and a brag that everyone's watches declared 10k achieved within 50m of the planned finishing point. The shuttle run at the eastern end of the prom ensured we all saw one another a few more times during the run than might have been the case. As others have noted, we did handicap starts with the aim of everyone finishing at the same time, and that (mostly :-) see below) worked too, despite everybody finishing a couple of minutes or more ( :-) or perhaps 20 minutes!!) inside their forecast times. Which, given a 20 mph wind and occasional driving rain was a pretty good performance all round. Well done us.

And well done the Stratford contingent for a similarly successful outing. Next year, all in one place hopefully - maybe even London!!

Oh, and I managed 51'45" which made me very very happy :-)

Onward and upward!!

A terrific day with some great times too. Your time is absolutely incredible πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ₯‡

Well done to you and the group for sharing your special memories with us.

Congratulations on two accounts UTS, for organising the run the way you did, everything worked out perfectly and secondly on that 51.45 time you ran that 10K, well done. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ

This being a 10k run, I meant to post it on the Bridge forum .... it's only here because that cheekychipmunks posted hers here too and I did mine after reading hers ...... :-(

And I only posted on here because everyone else had posted on the Bridge! πŸ˜…

I got on to Google Street View and had a virtual tour along part of where you run, going east along the A288 the prom where you run is on the right side with sea views as well, I noticed a kiosk selling pancakes, passed the South Parade Pier as well, that is a very good place to run, walk or cycle.

An excellent time for you outside a real race - now we can relax πŸ˜΄πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ˜΄πŸ’€πŸ’€

Anyone who voluntarily runs in rain has my admiration to begin with :) Well done all! :)

Given that we planned this @ least 6 weeks ago, there was little choice IJ. Tomorrow is going to be lovely, but all the better for a long post run walk.

Ta muchly! Youth πŸ˜€will have its day very soon now πŸ™„ - I reckon today β€˜twas only the flatness of Southsea prom that put said day off for a bit longer πŸ‘

Didn’t have a single K under 5 mins - last was best at 5’02”.

Katnap profile image
KatnapMarathonβ€’ in reply toUpTheStanley

Mine was progressive: 5:49, 5.33, 5.23, 5.18, 5.12, 5.09, 5.16, 5.15, 4.50, 5.07

Final split was wind affected but max/ finishing pace 3.16

UpTheStanley profile image
UpTheStanleyHalf Marathonβ€’ in reply toKatnap

Mine were all under 5’10” until 7, 8 & 9 which slipped out to over 5’15” with wind mostly against and tiredness creeping in. Last K was still against the wind but I had got a sniff of sub-52 so managed to kick on - also had Dexy and Cheeky as targets ahead of me!

Plus we were very conspicuous in our matching hi viz jackets! Great targets! 🎯

UpTheStanley profile image
UpTheStanleyHalf Marathonβ€’ in reply toIrishprincess

The gauntlet was sub-50, which I don’t think either of us excepted to hit- I got marginally closer today, but only because Southsea is flatter than Stratford πŸ˜ƒ

Never get bored with running posts UTS. I've loved reading them all. Congrats on the route organisation. It sounds like you all had the best day. Well done on your 10k time. Amazing πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

You certainly were speedy UTS! Watching you disappear into the distance that last time you saw us, and turn into a small orange dot was interesting! At least you gave me an indication where the finish was! πŸ˜„

I had the incentive of a sniff of a sub-52 at that point Cheeky. Not to mention the lure of breakfast πŸ˜€πŸ‘
