New territory beyond the HM.......

β€’23 Replies

Friday at last, long shifts this week, and the bonus of an overtime shift 😬, 84 hours is a very long time, note to self refrain from overtime even if the boss pleads πŸ™„.

Anyway Friday is work free πŸ₯³..... πŸƒπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘ŸπŸŽ½.

The Welsh weather mixed and unsettled, this created faffage on my part, even a return home to change shorts and grab my phone belt πŸ™ƒ...

I opted for the light windproof Jacket, tiredness I find emphasizes the chilly dampness. I slipped into slow and steady mode quite easily, but hadn't a clue as to where I was heading, distance etc I just followed my feet and settled in, hoping to wake up part way though my run ⏰.

Just the one runner going the other way, apart from that, isolation and a mirror like canal with wafts of boat stove smoke as the chimney's smoke snaked away upwards.

Subconsciously I passed my turn for home and the subsequent one after that. And I just errrrrr ran. I'd ground out 10k, slow n steady trying to keep in zone 3, which definitely makes for easy running πŸ‘.

I turned and headed for Llangollen the road I'd chosen is definitely a roller coaster of gradients, they come at you thick and fast, the slower relaxed running definitely I find works in your favour when fronted with a hillπŸ‘πŸ™‚ onwards and upwards.

Although I've probably driven along the road many times, it's a new one to my running and ok the footpath isn't the widest but it's all flat, and downhill mainly.

But not a fan of narrow paths and big fast trucks (splat risk 😬) I dive towards the towpath when I get the chance. A few walkers and boat people all cheerily greeted and then it's onwards towards the marina.

I scoot through a nearly empty Llangollen and then it's the home straight πŸ₯³ I found the sis gel definitely gave me a kick and the energy was still there as I passed the HM distance, I nearly considered taking off the jacket, but it's too much effort, plod on Ian nearly thereπŸ‘.

Definitely fully awake, and suddenly very very hungry..... I need buttery crumpets asap..... I think I've burnt off the early breakfast and some!

Happy running Friday people keep safe run healthy πŸ‘πŸ™‚

That's a fantastic run - and a fabulous way to unwind! you've earned breakfast, lunch AND dinner with that one!!!

Ahhhh thanks linda9389 I did enjoy it from 10k onwards, weetabix fuelled the run βœ…, crumpets helped post run munchiesβœ… teas being choreographed with teenage assistance πŸ‘ to syncronize with Mrs Wife's release from the NHS establishmentπŸ™‚........

I haven't a clue what 26miler would feel like, it's a longtime to run on ya lonesome πŸ€”

I agree! I think that distance benefits from some company ... maybe not all the way though 😊

How wonderful lmc. Your run sounded effortless (I’m sure it wasn’t!) Long slow runs are simply the best aren’t they?

Yep, those crumpets must have hit the spot perfectly. I’m partial to Marmite on mine too. πŸ˜‹

Happy running! Where next - FM? πŸ˜€

in reply to cheekychipmunks

Shsssssssss 🀫 I'll have no mention of a FM cheekychipmunks that's like a ridiculously long way...... The slowing it all down is a wonderful running plus πŸ‘

Sounds like a great run IMC50 😊 The pics are stunning - you are very lucky to have such gorgeous runs on your doorstep. My mouth is watering at the thought of the buttery crumpets πŸ˜‹

Thanks SmilingTortoise it is I guess having such a picturesque area to run in, around and on etc.... Call me selfish but as we're locked down again, it's Soooo quiet πŸ™‚ all the road noise has vamooshed... Btw the crumpets..... Delicious. Nearly as much as warm jelly babies πŸ˜†

Sounds like a real tonic after the drudge of work Well done. Your route sounds lovely. Canals are fascinating places aren’t they πŸ€“

I noticed log burner smoke on my run the other day and then coal fires as I got nearer home, cough cough 😁

in reply to misswobble

Thanks Miss wobble, I have to say, the towpaths are definitely my favourite running location, they're magical and so away from regular hustle and bustle.
