So this is my 2nd virtual 10 miler, the first being run at a relaxed bimble a couple of weeks ago. That one was to fulfil my promise to run 10 miles on my favourite local running spot, Felton Common. Job done, and my time was 2:16:36.
Today I was in two minds whether to head into town and run part of my HM route around Bristol, but because the weather was glorious I figured it would be too busy, so I headed for the towpath. Plus it meant Flossie could come. π₯°πΎ
Got there at around 8am. Mistake, should have made it 7am, as it was already warm - but mostly it was the humidity. 100% according to Strava, and I can believe it! π₯΅ Still, itβs a nice route and a fair amount of it is shaded, but the parts which arenβt have you running directly into the sun. βοΈ No worries, just trudged on, and my time was holding up ok. I had some jelly babies to fuel me, plus two small bottles of water, one with electrolytes, and boy I needed those. I did wilt a bit at 15k so I gave myself a talking to and came in at 2:11:08, which apparently is my 2nd fastest 10 miles. π
Home for post-run yoga and 2 large banana sandwiches, one of my favourite things! π
May I have my WooHoo please roseabi ? πππ»

Good work, CC. Thatβs impressive, especially in the humidity β THE worst weather for running. Hope you are feeling pleased with yourself now and that you can take it easy for the rest of the day.
Excellent run and time for you cheeky, however, there are TWO times mentioned in your report, "my time was 2.16.36" and later ".came in at 2.11.08", of course the two eleven time is better than two sixteen, that's a sub two and quarter hour time, irrespective of the time, I hope you enjoyed your run ππΎ.
Thanks AlMorr ! The first time I mentioned was my virtual 10 miler from a couple of weeks ago. That was a bimble on the Common with no expectations of getting anywhere near a PB. Todayβs time was better (2:11:08) and I was pleased with that in the humidity! πββοΈπββοΈ
Very good, I will need to get to longer runs again soon, I have not ran any longer than a 5K since running 10 miles in July, next Wednesday I hope to run 8 Kilometres, the following week, 12K and perhaps run another 10 miles the week after that. π ππΎ
Ahh thanks Dexy5 , but I have every expectation of you sneaking past me again when youβre fully fit! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Yes, I believe roseabi has a virtual HM up her sleeve shortly. And Iβll find myself signing up! π³π
I have two methods - today I used my belt which has spaces for the 2 small bottles, and in the middle thereβs a zip compartment for other things - jelly babies in my case! Also my phone sometimes, although today I wore it on my arm.
I also have a hydration vest with a bladder which I use for longer runs. It has tons of pockets for JBs etc too. π Both are very good.
Outstanding effort CC. Weather has cooled down up here so beginning to think longer runs might be on the cards again. You are steadily building up pace....be leaving me in the distance soon!!Have an extra unofficial woohoo from me π
Woohoo π₯³ Well done Cheeky. A great run especially in the humidity and a fab time. Donβt worry, the weather wonβt last - Iβve just had to put a fleece on as it has turned chilly here π₯Ά
Thanks Sandie! π₯°Wow, Iβm almost envious of your fleece - itβs still toasty here, even this late. Iβm definitely dealing with the heat and humidity better than last year, but give me damp and grey any time (only for running though!) βοΈ
Thanks Brian, it caught me a little off guard as it was grey when I left home and I wasnβt aware how humid it was. It was a head down, get it over kind of run - but I enjoyed it! π

This is awesome and such a good time too! Well done π Another 10 mile run and in the heat and humidity too. You must be really satisfied after this. It's so rewarding when you complete a distance like this. Big congratulations.
Thanks so much GTFC! Yes, 10 miles is a long way indeed. Itβs getting somewhat easier each time I do it though, even though the humidity got to me near the end today. Iβm hoping when I do my virtual HM soon, itβs lovely and crisp, or better still, raining! π¦ π
I hope so! Iβve run the distance twice before - the first time exactly a year ago on the same towpath I ran today, then again in March when I did the virtual Bath HM around Bristol. I lopped over 15 minutes off the first one, and I donβt expect such a mammoth improvement this time round - but Iβll give it my best shot! βοΈπββοΈπ Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! π
Great stuff Munks πͺ itβs not easy in this heat so good for you and well done. Great time reduction too π
Banana sandwiches.... yum... reminds me of my childhood and my cousins as we always seemed to have them when they visited. I still love banana on toast as a post-run snack π
Thank you IP! π₯° It didnβt feel humid when I left home, in fact it was misty and relatively cool. That didnβt last long. π
Iβve always loved banana sandwiches. Even more so when I was expecting my first daughter - I had to take one back that Iβd bought from the trendy sandwich shop near my office. They had sliced the banana, and I wanted it mashed. No. Not what I wanted! π
Thank you Sandra! Iβm not sure Iβd have chosen yesterday if I knew how humid it was to be, but once Iβd started running, no way was I going to bail. πββοΈπββοΈ
Ooo great run Cheeky and with that humidity too. Itβs been bonkers warm again but heading to cooler days soon which is a blessing. I see jelly babies kept you good company too π. And hereβs mine you for. Woohoo ππ
Woooooohoooooo from me Cheeky. Great run in that humidity and I am pleased you took your jelly baby running friends with you. Itβs been bonkers warm so even bigger woohoo for that humid run.
