There's another storm raging outside as I type, so stay safe out there! There aren't even any windsurfers on the sea at the moment - the photo was taken by mr roseabi the other day (it's not me in the pic, sadly) π
How are you getting on with your training? Tell us all about it!!!
Check out our Woohoo boards for the results of the virtual runs so far, and let us know if you have a result to add:
β β β I am sorry if the virtual fixtures do not quite fit in with your training plan, but here's a PRO TIP: Training plans are not set in stone. If you want to fit a tune-up race into your schedule move things around and make it work! As long as it doesn't cause too much of an increase in your weekly distance (i.e. you should be close to achieving the distance of the tune-up race if you haven't already) you're golden!
β VIRTUAL 10 MILE RUN AUGUST 31ST - SEPTEMBER 6TH
LET US KNOW in the comments if you are planning to join in with the next virtual run! Please add a separate comment, it's much easier to spot πππ
It's ok, it's just that some people post quite long comments, and if they include within that comment that they would like to run in a virtual race, it is quite easy to miss that request! So it's handy for me if they post their news in one comment, and do the virtual run request in a separate one πππ
Hi Roseabi, can you put me down for the 10 mile next week please? Iβm not exactly sure what day Iβll do it, that depends on the weatherπ
I ran another 10K yesterday while I was down in Weymouth, then travelled back to Bognor. Although it was windy and wet it was nothing like today!π¨βοΈ
Other than that, everythingβs going well so far and Iβm using these runs towards my LEJOG challengeπββοΈ
Yes please! Iβll do a 10 miler next week - and itβll go towards chipping away at my total of 874 miles to John OβGroats! (Currently at 36.61! π€£)
Please put me down for 10 miles next week. I haven't raced 10 miles since GSR 2018, and that's still my nemesis run; despite everything it still grieves me a lot!!! So, HUv10m I'm coming for you, there's a score to be settled (nothing quite like pulicly setting yourself up for disappointment π€ π€ͺ π) !!!
Iβm on a cut back week next week and off on a camping trip to the Lake District. Should manage plenty of miles of hiking and cycling for cross training but no 10 mile run for me. Having a few issues this week with tight hip flexors but Iβm stretching them 3-4 times a day. Overall canβt complain too much! Good luck to everyone taking on the 10 miles!
Much as Iβd love to and it really galls me to say it, Iβm not sure Iβm up to 10 miles next week. I will get there soon though as Iβm not missing out on that bling!
letβs do it!! Please add me - It will be my 3rd 10 miles only and is a distance Iβve been avoiding after over doing it. This gives me the excuse to try again!!
I have discovered rubber toe caps to save my toe nails. My little toes still swell up and hurt after running. I am linking my training with a friend and it has helped a lot- feels less into dating than before. I am using protein powders before morning runs and after evening runs and they have helped maintaining my energy levels. I am a slow runner but happy with my progress π
Are you sure your shoes are big enough in the toe-box? You seem to be having such a lot of bother. I sometimes get a black toenail after a long run (20k or more) and think it's because I curl my toes so the end of my toe is actually banging on the base of my shoe. I now try to make a conscious effort to keep my toes spread out and relaxed and it has really helped. But the little toes sound more like it could be insufficient space. May be worth getting them checked again.
The longer you run, the warmer your feet and the more they swell. I got to 13k in my first air of running shoes before I experienced my first black toenail! Since then I have always had a half size bigger and get much further π
After a bit of ill health, a few niggles and some running shoe issues I'm crossing fingers that the gods are smiling on me and I manage my virtual 13.1 this weekend π€
Assuming that goes to plan I'm hoping to join you guys on your next 10 mile run in a few weeks π
Hi Roseabi! Could you put me down for the following please:
10km today (26th) - I'll post back here with an update after the run.
10mile
Regarding 10km on 23rd
I didn't have my name down for it but I ran one of my better 10km on 23rd. Could I go on that list please? I managed a 56 min 17 sec. Not sure if you can see the workout here - endomondo.com/users/3486639...
These virtual runs are meant to be something we do together so we can cheer one another along, and although I have set up results boards and medals for people to enjoy after their race, there is little point in adding someone retrospectively. However I will put your 10k of the 23rd on that board since you have asked.
Have awarded you your v10K medal - congratulations!!!
I have added today's 10k to the board - GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!! And let me know when you're done πππ
You don't need to provide proof, and I will not go looking for your results, so you will have to tell me about it on one of my posts - or post your own race report!
Which of the 10 Mile races will you be taking part in? Or both?
Iβd like to think I could do this, but the old frame just canβt cope with anything much over 10km these days. Never say never though and I may push on later in the year.
So I shall bow out at this point and wish you all well on your 10milers. Iβll be waving my Pom Poms for you all at the side of the road. πππ
Wonderful, I will add you to our HM group list now. Which HM is it? If you use strava you may want to join our HUHM autumn 2020 strava club too - just send a request to join (if your strava name is very different you will have to give us a clue on here, either by private chat or in one of these comments as we only accept HU users we recognise).
Hi Roseabi, I completed my HUHM 10 mile challenge run this morningπββοΈ Iβm back in Bognor now so I ran a very scenic route to the seafront then along the esplanadeπwhere there was a travelling funfairπ‘ Happily the wind had died down overnight but it was a little chillyπ± Anyway, I finished in 1:44:07 so Iβm pleased with thatπ
