I generally don't mind running in the rain and the forecast today was for lots of it! A good day then, to try out my new Hoka Speedgoats πwhich arrived yesterday. ππ
I had already planned to run over to my local Parkrun course, which is mostly grassy trail and can get quite muddy in bad weather. It's also where I have been doing my hill repeats recently.
The rain was pretty persistent and I know they say..."skin is waterproof", "once you're wet, you don't get any wetter" but it's still amazing just how wet you can get sometimes...!π§ππ½ββοΈπ§
The hill repeats were fine - yes, they were hard work and I did lose count of how many I had done, so ended up doing 9 repeats rather than 8! π It was predictably quiet of course, apart from a couple of dog walkers, which I always like.
Having survived my hill work, I ran on as usual, to complete a total of 5k - always steady, but today that last couple of kilometres felt further and seemed to take longer! (Garmin tells me, it was pretty ok though).
And the Speedgoats felt fab! Lots of cushioning but firm rather than marshmallowy! Great traction on the wet grass and what are often slippery mud paths. Fingers crossed that nothing hurts later. π€
Happy running everyone.
