I generally don't mind running in the rain and the forecast today was for lots of it! A good day then, to try out my new Hoka Speedgoats πŸ‘Ÿwhich arrived yesterday. πŸ‘πŸ˜€

I had already planned to run over to my local Parkrun course, which is mostly grassy trail and can get quite muddy in bad weather. It's also where I have been doing my hill repeats recently.

The rain was pretty persistent and I know they say..."skin is waterproof", "once you're wet, you don't get any wetter" but it's still amazing just how wet you can get sometimes...!πŸŒ§πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸŒ§

The hill repeats were fine - yes, they were hard work and I did lose count of how many I had done, so ended up doing 9 repeats rather than 8! πŸ™„ It was predictably quiet of course, apart from a couple of dog walkers, which I always like.

Having survived my hill work, I ran on as usual, to complete a total of 5k - always steady, but today that last couple of kilometres felt further and seemed to take longer! (Garmin tells me, it was pretty ok though).

And the Speedgoats felt fab! Lots of cushioning but firm rather than marshmallowy! Great traction on the wet grass and what are often slippery mud paths. Fingers crossed that nothing hurts later. 🀞

Happy running everyone.

Nice run in the wet sandraj39. I’ve been out πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈthis morning at the local Parkrun course but it’s mainly on paths. I got a few funny looks from people sitting in the park cafe watching this mad fool enjoying himself in the rain! πŸ€ͺ

Thanks for the info on the Speedgoats. I might give them a go when my On Cloudventures need replacing!πŸ™‚

Well done David - I do think you have to run in the rain to appreciate that it's actually a lot nicer than say, shopping in the rain or walking to work in the rain! πŸ™‚

Quite pleased with myself for getting my run in earlier, though! πŸ€—

Rain!! Wahoooooo

Well done you! You'll feel so satisfied now that you went out and also your new Hoka's got a work out.

Sounds perfect to me Sandra, and it’s true - once you’re wet, you’re wet! Glad the new πŸ‘Ÿ were a success. My newish Brooks Cascadia 14s got a proper test on my run today too. Passed with flying colours! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

I am thinking about Speedgoats following the success of my arahis. My knee seems to appreciate that additional bit of "give". Hill work resumes on Saturday after 4 month lay off! 😬 A bit of rain will be a diversion.
