Well it’s been some time since I’ve posted or even had the courage to look at others posts.
I managed to acquire an injury that stopped me in my tracks, all was going well up until that point (two short runs and one long a week) so to suddenly have to stop was so disappointing that I couldn’t face even looking at my running magazines. After two months of discomfort which under other circumstances would have sent me to a physiotherapist I am finally at a point where I can restart my running. I can hop on my injured leg, this accordingly to YouTube is a must before running. Fingers crossed I can build up again, any advice from those of you that have been in a similar situation would be gratefully received. Thank you.

Thank you, I think I’ll start with a walk/run again until I get my confidence back. Something in my groin went, a sudden sharp pain that became a dull constant ache. I could walk on the flat with no problems but struggled up hills, stairs were also difficult, just no strength. Running was a none starter and when trying to hop my foot just wouldn’t leave the floor. Was all most odd and disconcerting. I’m keeping everything crossed that I can gradually return to the long runs.
Ooh that sounds nasty! Poor you xx Actually, as Decker suggests, if you could get at least a virtual consultation it would be a good idea to see someone about it, just to be on the safe side! But that's definitely good news about the hopping, take things really slowly, you'll get there xxx
Are you able to see a Physiotherapist virtually? I am just coming off an injury and had a few virtual sessions with my Physio here in Canada. She’s literally down the street from me but unable to have in person visits. After a virtual assessment, she gave me a number of stretches and exercises targeted at the injury prone area. We also worked out that my shoes may have played a part in the problem. Switching up to another pair helped greatly. Hope you are able to run again soon but all I would caution is to take it slow. Frustrating, I know.
Much sympathy. After a very ling spell off last year, I restarted C25K. I did all my runs slowky rather than any speedwork. I didn't do all 27 runs of the program, but I did do at least one of each type. I also took ywo rest days between each run (using cycling and yoga as alternatives). I t meant I was constantly chexking in with how it felt, progressing at a steady rate and actually seeing a clear, structured improvement. I didn't care I was back to square one - I was running again.
Any recurrence- stop, rest and seek advice. Good luck.
