Okay so I went into a bike shop today just to do a bit of exploring and they suggested this bike for me - It's a second-hand hybrid bike and the brand is Globe and it's got a lot of gears. I haven't bought it yet because they still have to fix it up and stuff but I thought I would post it up here and ask you guys for advice!

I just tried googling Globe and it came up with secondhand Specialized Globe hybrid bikes (Globe being the model, Specialized being the brand). Is that it? If so, it looks good - it's a well known brand that uses well known components, has lots of gears as you say and good medium width 'all round' tyres. Looks like a good starting bike. It's probably a bit heavier than more expensive bikes and wont have disc brakes, but neither of those points matter for what you've said you want to do. There seem to be a few for sale secondhand so you could compare prices.
That looks a very good brand and bike for you RC41, if they recommend that bike for you once they have fixed it up I would also recommend it for you to buy, but the final choice is for you if you want to buy it.
Looks good to me! Lots of gears is great, and you'll soon get used to them πππ
Mrs windy bought one a few years back. I maintained it. It was fine and still is, my daughter now uses it. The bike was on the heavy side and the components were erring on the side of basic, but well made overall and functional.
That's great, it sounds like a good bike for me to get started on. π
If you go for it see if the dealer will fit mudguards for free or something like free. Save getting a wet backside and keeps the bike that much cleaner if you start using it regularly.
