I'm really not a fan of swimming. Well, that's not entirely true, swimming's fine, it all the people I struggle with! Anywho, this is pertinent information 'cos I'm banned from running for 4-6 weeks so it's all bike and swim for me, which sucks.
So the 10k next weekend can't happen, nor the half 2 weeks after. Leicester's only 6 weeks away too, so that's not going to happen either. Pretty pissed off with whole thing to be honest.
Still, the orthotics are now in my shoes, and most weird they feel too! Hopefully though, I'll see some improvement and be able to get back on my feet, as it were.
Sigh.

Really sorry you’re going through this. I had to cancel a 10k and a half marathon earlier this year so I know how you feel. It will get better and you will run those races at some time. Can you defer them till next year? That’s what I did with Blenheim half, which would have been next month.
Thanks. Rationally, I know it'll get better and I'll get through it. But... Well, y'know. Grr.
I'd not thought about deferrals, I'll look into it. I was hoping to swap Leicester from the full marathon back to half, but it doesn't look much like I'm going to be up to that either.
Honestly, rest that foot and take it gently. I tried to force things with my knee in the spring and ended up being laid off for longer. Of the three races I had booked this year, I’m only doing the Oxford half this October. But there’s next year to look forward to with Oxford Town & Gown and Blenheim half
Oh eck 🙁. I’m sorry to hear your best laid plans have been thwarted but it happens. You’ll be back out there before you know it though 💪👍🏃♂️ Made fitter and stronger no doubt by all your cross training 🙂
Have you got anywhere near where you could try open water swimming? With a wet suit it's more enjoyable than lane swimming. You will be running HMs again 🏃♂️
Uggh! Smpathy and empathy aplenty from me! I appear to have become addicted to cycling in lieu of running (though I will be back to running as soon as I can). I hate swimming in our local pool so have given that up. I hadn't considered open water swimming as a different challenge/adventure, but realistically I better not get addicted to something else (no idea how I'd justify the cost of a wetsuit on top of the new cycling gear I've bought ) I've already cancelled a 10K and a HM, and I will probably need to cancel a Dec 10k too! It sucks, big time. But we have to believe we will get better and the runs will be waiting. We have to believe it! Good luck with the orthotics and healing.
Thank you, it is massively frustrating isn't it? And I know what you mean about the pool... I've not met a public pool I like yet. The pool's are okay, it's just a big lump of water after all. It seems to me though, that folk go swimming for a chat, which seems odd. Even during lane swimming sessions there are clutches of people bobbing about having a chin wag and getting in the way. There's a cafe for crying out loud! Chat there! Or, y'know, anywhere that's not here really. Grr. Don't like people.
Gahhhh, sigh indeed! Being pissed off with stuff is an excellent motivator though, so I warrant you'll be back triple force by the time week 6 comes round...
