Sorry for having been MIA for so long, but work got stupidly busy, and train strikes in Paris and all that horrible stuff and I needed to step back from the forum, but not from running.....until I injured my meniscus and fractured my tibia - ironically not from running but from being pushed on the train and giving it a good bang. I had an MRI done which confirmed the injury my doctor suspected.
I was signed up for the Paris HM, but I am still in recovery - another 2 weeks on the IC before I can start running again. My knee is still sore and the anti-inflammatories are putting me to sleep. "Luckily" the Paris HM was cancelled because of the Corona virus and has been pushed back, so I might still get to run it. *fingers crossed*
I will start up with a few short runs and gradually work up to HM distance again. Doc said that I *should* be able to get back into it again. Time will tell. It wasn't a "wear and tear" injury, so, in theory, running shouldn't make it worse it seems.
I hope you are all well and off the IC
Good luck with your races

Oh so sorry, what a nasty accident; makes a bad situation with all them annoying strikes even worse. I’m glad you are recuperating and that in fact you’ll be able to do the HM. Take care
Hello and welcome back. So sorry to hear about the injury. That sounds truly horrible. Hope you are recovering fast. I’m sure you will be running big distances again before long.
Good to see you back! And great that your desire to run is undiminished, but what a horribe thing to have happen!
So long as you take your return steady, hopefully you'll be able to return to where you were without problems. After my four and a half months off with a stress fracture, I started back with a version of C25K (skipping a few of the repeat runs) and then Ju-ju's magic plan to get me back to 10k. Whenever I felt any tenderness in the fracture spot I dialled it back a bit. So far, so good 🤞🤞. I've also done masses of cycling which I think has strengthened other muscles which hopefully means less stress on the healed bone - cross training may be really helpful for you too. Good luck.
Hi BIT, great that you’re back on here, it’s been quite a while. Here’s hoping your hope of running the Paris HM materialises. I’m sure it will. As you say “luckily” it’s being pushed back which will give you time to heal and build back up again. 👍
I've missed you!! So sorry to hear about your injury, that really sucks! Hope you can build up slowly on your treadmill and be back up to speed by the time this is over x
things got really difficult - first shingles, then the train strikes turned my 4 hour daily commute into a 6 hour commute, then I got this injury...
But I'm still here, building back up slowly and my HM got postponed (luckily for me, but different circumstances would have been better), so I now have until September to get back up to HM distance...fingers crossed
