Defer or not to?

I have a pain in my left foot I think it is plantar fasciitis. Started 2 Tuesday's ago after a 7 mile run.

I then ran Brighton half on it. I was going to do 15 miles training run today but only managed 10 before I thought I should really stop. Think I am just going to have to suck it up and rest it for at least a couple of weeks but I am signed up for the full Marathon in 7 weeks and have not done over 14 miles.

Do I defer?

You have until April 17th to defer, so why not wait and see?

brightonmarathonweekend.co....

Also, perhaps you should have your GP take a look at your foot..

Also, do eccentric heel drops - 10x straight knee, 10x bent knee, both legs, three times a day xx

I can't answer your question - but I can send lots of sympathy. Feet! Pain in the ... feet! Such a nuisance 🤬

I guess you're doing the rolling on a golf ball, or on an ice bottle; stretching out the foot and calf.

There are so many things in the foot that can cause pain - definitely worth getting it checked out.

I suffered with this for about 18-24 months. I did the stretching exercises. Ice water and golf ball rolling underfoot. In the end the thing that kept me running, and eventually got rid of the symptoms was wearing a heatpad on my foot.

It isn't an instant cure, so you can't put it on and immediately feel better. But what it did was open the veins and encourage the blood flow in the foot to increase, which helped it to heal.

The pads I bought from the pound shop - two to a packet, so even daily wear doesn't coast much. I tended do do it, only when it flared, or after a longer run. The pads stayed warm throughout the day too, so the benefit is worth it.

Good luck, whatever you decide.
