For badges on here I mean. I’m not sure whether to claim my half marathon badge now or wait till my race in August when hopefully I’ll run the whole way.
I jeffed it for the second time today and actually ran 90% of the distance, 12 one mile jogs (a smidgin less in fact as I use metric units) with two minute walks in between. So I ran 19.2 km, 11.9 miles, but not consecutively: ten miles remains the furthest I’ve run non stop and I’ve only done that once.
I’m happy with my run and didn’t do it to get a badge so I’m quite relaxed about it: I just wondered what the criterion is. (OK I maybe wanted to brag about my run a little bit too! Small beer for some members here but I’m pretty pleased with myself!)

Congratulations on your HM run Arthur, on the longer runs I think that you can walk short distances and still be able to get your badge, many people here admit that like you they have ran a half or full marathon but not all of it has been running and still got their badge, it's only on the longer runs of C25K that runners must not walk to claim their graduation badge, it's up to you if you do not want to claim your badge until the HM race in August.
Yes, claim your badge... many, many runners are using Jeffing to run Half Marathons and Marathons.... in my last HM , there were many incredible runners using this method.
You have done wonderfully and you will really enjoy your HM Race, and if you have to walk a little in that race do not worry... we never know what we will be up against on the day. With me, last year it was a fierce headwind)
From my two trial runs so far I fully expect to walk while taking on water and nutrition but that’s not the same as jeffing. Or maybe it is, just with longer between the walks! On this run I drank some Tailwind on the fourth, seventh and tenth walk breaks. My walk pace is two thirds of my long run pace so three 2 minute walks would only add three minutes to my time.
Many folk slow down to a walk to take water n board... I have to stop running to blow my nose!
Jeffing varies from person to person and they find a pace that suits them. Coming back from a hamstring injury in January, to get back on track for my H in three weeks time.. I have been doing a 5 minute run and a 1 minute walk sequence.
Weirdly...my 5K time has improved We do what suits us in our runs, but Jeffing is certainly not as I have heard many people say.. cheating.
No of course it’s not cheating in a race context. You can walk all the way if you can stay ahead of the sweeper bus doing that. I just wanted to clarify what achievement is being claimed when I claim the badge.
Definitely badgeworthy, no doubt about it. To me planned walks are not cheating. I feel disappointed with unplanned walks in my own runs, but I still wouldn't call it cheating. For HM distance I always walk to drink, and plan those walks in.
Shout it loud and proud, request your badge and nothing less than a large beer to celebrate (what is this thing called small beer?) 👏👏👏🏅
Well done Arthur, claim your badge, wear it with pride and let Jeff share it with you if he likes! Jeff and I aren’t friends, but he accompanies lots and lots of runners on here. 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️
