Parkrun yesterday was rather slippery in places, so at times felt more like a park ice skate. It was bitterly cold, and my plan to get back to running in just t-shirt and shorts very quickly went back to donning the tights, long sleeved base layer and gloves. I don't know what the actual temperature was, but freezing would be a good description. This cold air made getting oxygen into my lungs feel like a challenge in itself, so spent large portions of my run focusing and concentrating on regulating my breathing.
Not the conditions I ever expected to beat my PB in, but then again, my PBs have always come at the most peculiar of times.
So here's another Parkrun PB. WooHoo!! And I didn't just scrape through either, I've knocked a whole 24 seconds off, meaning I'm down to running 5K in just 22:13.
No idea how I managed that, but my goal of a sub20 time is slowly looking possible. Still a long way off, but it might actually be possible. Just take it one step at a time, the next step being to shave off those 13seconds and get under 22mins.
My HM Training of building up the mileage is clearly helping with the short runs too.
