TailChaser’s HM Training Diary - Week 3

Thankfully a much quieter week this week but I had to make a few adjustments to my plan to fit in an unscheduled 10k. Not much drama except a slight injury scare half way through:

- Run 1: 30 minutes of JRS 30/20/10 intervals, with 10 minutes either side for warm up/cool down ...zzzzz...seemed to go on forever! Loads of dog walkers in the park, and lots of slippy bits also made it quite awkward to get around. I wasn’t really up for this one due to lack fo sleep and was very glad when it was over, however I did get just under 8km under my belt, so not too shabby!

- Run 2: 72 minute long steady Christmas card delivery run! Again a bit marred by lack of sleep but also by my new shoes. I decided to try my new Ghost 12s on their first long run. They have elasticated laces and I think I tied them too tightly on my left foot, so not only did they rub the top of my foot but also my achilles. I was too stubborn to stop so by the time I ended the run my left foot was in a bit of pain. Thankfully no long term damage done but I will take the lacing lock off this left shoe as I don’t think it’s necessary with these laces. Just over 10km done and dusted anyway.

- Run 3: It rained and it rained and it rained....so down to the gym I went and hopped on the treadmill for a fastish twenty minuter. Good test for the foot though (wore my old Launch 4s) as achilles behaved itself, phew!

- Run 4: Normally this would be a parkrun but I had already decided to just volunteer 😱 as Katnap ’s club were having a Christmas run on Sunday and we were doing it as a family. In the end parkrun was called off due to flooding so I just went back to the gym for a workout. Run 4 on Sunday turned in to a very pleasant 10km trot around Stratford with a good mixture of different runners, and youngest kitten completed his very first 10km! On the second half of the run we accompanied someone who does heart rate zone running, so he’s inspired me to give that a go during my next long run. Eldest kitten took part in the 5km but had to go up one of the steepest hills in the area, so he was definitely challenged!

A real mixture of a week that didn’t start off particularly well but ended much better than I could have hoped for, and I did loads of miles and learned a lot again too! Can’t ask for better than that 😊

Have a great Christmas week everyone and hope you all have the Christmas you wish for. Happy running 😊🎄🎅🏼🤶🏻🎄😊

Fantastic selection of runs there TC, very well done. 👏👏👏 I’m glad your injury came to nothing. That wouldn’t have been good.

You’ve clocked up more miles than me this week - I had no time for any long ones, just 2 x 5k and 1 x 5.5k but I made sure they were hilly as penance!

Have a merry Christmas all of you, and a here’s to a runny 2020! 🏃‍♀️🎄🎉

That’s still 15.5k cheeky, think of that a year ago and on hills too 😅 we’ve come a long way (literally!).

Give Flossie a big Christmas hug from us & have a good one x

It’s true TC! We certainly have come a long way, and I have a feeling the trend might continue in 2020. Eek, Bath Half only about 11 weeks away for me! 😳 When’s yours? 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Flossie has gifts to open, and I’ll be sure she wears her jingle bells collar for all her VRBs tomorrow! 🐕🎄❤️

Oh, btw, just to add I finished Day 30 of Dedicate this morning! Will do some random Adriene vids until we all embark on Home next week. 🧘‍♀️ Exciting. 👏👏

Looking forward to that Cheeky. I did a few more after True but I can’t get the boys out of the living room when I have time at the mo.

Shakespeare Half is still 17 weeks away so lots of time. It’s amazing how much we learn from the training though. I managed to keep my heart rate below 160bpm on my run today! Yay!!! You’ll be fine cheeky. We must do our Cirencester meet up before then! 🎄👍🎄

Happy training TC, you’ll absolutely smash the HM. 👏 Too right we need to do Cirencester. I’m free most Saturday mornings - funny that! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
