Another week in the bag. This one was quieter on the running front for me, with lower mileage and no training runs to worry about. After the overdose of winter in last week’s race, I’ve decided to step back and just run when I feel like it for awhile. So far so good.
How about you? How has your week gone?
Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week. Please join in the discussion! If you're new or a lurker this is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.
ATTENTION ALL! Do you have any events this weekend that you'd like to be added to the pompom post? If so, please let us know below! 👇 👇 👇
ALSO IMPORTANT:
Please note that next week we will be giving events their own monthly call out post starting in December to make it easier for us to assemble the weekly pom pom posts, so please stay tuned for that!
Happy running!

Glad to hear you're taking a step back and running for fun for awhile. You've had an epic year full of some great events. My running is barely existing right now but I'm starting to miss it so it is time to try and get back on track. I'm still having some struggles with a tight hamstring and bum cheek which Physio determined was due to weak glute medius muscles when I had it checked out in the spring. I've been bad at not doing my strength training so am trying to do a bit every week now - lunges, clamshells, squats, donkey kicks - all exercises I really don't enjoy but know they are good for me and my running. My injured trail running partner is trying to work her way off the IC after a year on it so we participated in a shallow water fitness class last week. We went into the deeper part of the pool, had a great workout and were the youngest participants. I was surprised how hungry and tired I was after. It could be a good cross training activity as well (and a great excuse to reconnect with my running partner and hopefully get back in the hills together next summer!). Her Physio wasn't sure if she would be healed enough to be ready for the HM we signed up for in Banff in June, but at worst case scenario, it becomes a sight seeing mission, running what she can and walking the rest. It wasn't a cheap entry fee and she really wants the great medal with mountains on it, so she is motivated, to say the least (only the HM and FM get the medal). Time will tell.
Banff should be fun, however we run it. We're looking at trying to rent an oTENTik instead of hauling a trailer or paying for a hotel, although we have our hotel room booked in case we can't get an oTENTik. It would be easier and a nicer way to spend our time in Banff, camping and roughing it. Now to patiently wait for the campground registration to open up.
We used to camp there every year when we lived nearby. I do miss it (although not having to worry about bears camping here is a little more footloose and fancy free)
A well deserved bit of free-running for you Decker! It's been one heck of a year, chock full of BIG events
After a bit of a panic with my foot at the start of last week, all seems to have calmed down again and today I ran 9K!!! I found it a bit tough, which is a first since coming back. Not fast, but I'm going to just have to suck that up. The main thing is I might actually make it to my 10K event a week this Saturday. Since May I've tried to work towards so many target dates which I've missed and events that I've had to scrap, that it's hard to believe I might actually make one. There's a good chance I'll be the first to comment on the new events post 🤞😍
Sending recovery vibes to anyone on the IC; wishing everyone else happy, injury free running 🙂
I haven't run at all since last Sunday. I've been resting up with pain in the side of my foot. Its not really a problem as my next event isn't until next year so I wasn't going to start my plan until December. However, I had commited to trying to acheive 1000km in 2019 and I feel that may be starting to slip away.
Saame here Whatsapp and Sask! At least I'm so far behind my 1000k I'm not tempted to go for it! Good point on last year's distance though - I'll take a look at that 😀
I still may get there. Up till now I had a bit spare. It just means I have to make sure I don't miss a single run in December if I can help it. I doubt I will commit to such a high distance again. I have definitely beat last years mileage.
Hi all! On December 1st I’m doing Dalton Park 10k, on the 8th I’ve got Roseberry Hardmoors half marathon (terrified), on December 15th I’m doing the Poultry Run, on the 23rd it’s the What a Wheeze Christmas 5k, then on December 28 it’s our club winter solstice run which can be up to 34 miles depending on which part you do! I’m hoping to do at least a HM but last time I did 21 miles. Busy busy!
I’m secretly aiming for 1000 miles in 2019 but I’ve got a way to go yet so I have to just keep running!
Managed to run 31 miles again this week, and actually feeling great! Marathon training plan, club coaching, attention to diet and new shoes all helping. I just hope it stays this way. It feels like all the running I’ve done since C25k has been full of issues if one sort or another until now. I even managed a PB yesterday 8 miles into a 10 mile run - ok it was on a downhill section, but still a PB!
I've had a trail running week , 20 of us on a hilly dark and muddy weds night 7 mile run, I made it up the "hill with no name " that I have only managed twice before out of 10 attempts; it's an evil one , was coached up by fellow group member and powered by an extra strong mint wedged in my cheek! Not seeing the top is an advantage! then ventnor group run Fri morning, flat seafront parkrun and 10 mile group off rd run yesterday. Few days off now as nephews birthday dinner and run club disco sparkle party next 2 night's! Glad I booked this week off work 😊
Running for pure joy... You know how I feel about that... ? Perfect!
You have had a heck of a year, and your runs have been aiming! I feel when I read your posts like a seasoned traveller... I love the posts and photos
Time to ease back and enjoy!
My week.. well... got a PB again in the Speed challenge... did not try too hard.. took advice from roseabi .. easy pace, with a burst when I was able Had fun!
I am starting to prepare for HM training here which begins neat Monday too... and am also on Sunday beginning the December Marcathon.
I totally blame Hidden for this....( not really... she is doing it too ), I shall use it as part of my training and be very sensible...I suspect some runs will need to be indoor as the weather closes in !
Running is easing my mind, soothing my soul and keeping me strong... got to keep going
It will be part of my training too for London winter run - not trained for a 10k race before, I usually just do them, but the HM training plan was so good, and this one offers to increase my pace xx
Hi everyone. You all seem to be doing so well. What a fantastic community. ❤️ I know I harp on loads on here and B210K, but running is such fun and you guys are so supportive, I simply have to share. Mute me if you’d rather! 😅😅
So I’ve discovered I ....... enjoy intervals. 😳
That’s twice in a row now I’ve enjoyed them. Last week I dialled back the reps and upped the recovery time, but know what? It means I can do them, and put extra effort into the sprints. I couldn’t be a**ed before, knowing before I started how I’d hate it, and only making a half baked effort. 🏃♀️🏃♀️ I’m even think of adding another set of reps next week. 💪 So go me. 😀
Long run tomorrow. More sploshy puddles, but I enjoy those. Dog does too. 🐕
