Sorry, I didn't get a chance to post this week - aged relatives have been visiting π
Normal-ish service should be resumed next week! In the meantime, I hope you're all getting on OK? Tell us all about it!
I don't really think you should run like you stole IT, but I hope you are all feeling driven to succeed, and are all excited about your half marathon training πππ
Getting on fine but a bit stiff from hedge cutting, shredding the proceeds, raking blah blah.
I did a fitness session yesterday using Nike app which nearly killed me My arms and shoulders seem really stiff After all that the app didnβt recognise Iβd done it πβΉοΈπ€·ββοΈ
I put weight on this week Not much but I was surprised π
Long run day on Saturday - 19.5 km πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
I hope everyoneβs had a good week Have fun this weekend π
Posting my runs every time i do them. I'm getting more efficient at controlling the hr zones and faster in the lower zones. I've learned my lesson about doing too much and am now sticking to the plan till the race. However, I'm glad I did the 10.5 mile run as i now know i can reach HM distance. The line between productive training and overreaching is wafer thin, or so i've found.
Really pushing on this week - did the Barry Island 10k on Sunday and got my best chip time to date (whoop!). That was followed by a golf day, rest day, and then the long run - 17k, longest one since my last HM. Then yesterday was a pretty gruelling 12k hike in the Peak District. Today will be a much-needed rest day π
Hi Roseabi, I haven't done much this week following Regents Park 10K on Sunday. βΉοΈ
Sadly it's my grandma's funeral on Monday afternoon, but I'm hoping to get out on Monday morning for a longer run to clear my head ready for the service. She made it to the grand old age of 104 so had a more than decent innings! She had a varied and active life, and always said she didn't regret anything she'd done, so you can't say fairer than that. RIP grandma π
I'm hoping to get out tomorrow for Parkrun (weather permitting) although the forecast doesn't look very encouraging. With any luck I'll be back to proper HM training over the next week or so π
Thanks TailChaser, the funeral service went as well as it could. I did manage to get out and do 16.5K yesterday morning which helped with my mental preparation for the dayππ
Just in case I am back on the Autumn HM wagon, I have dug out my old Asics HM plan from last year. I have seven weeks until a new potential HM (Folkestone 29 Sept). I may do this one instead of Maidstone in October. Still tiptoeing around the subject with Mr L-L...
Hello! I was doing quite well on the plan I think, and ran 17km on Weds, which I was pleased about. Not so pleased at skipping my 10k run today, however, because of high winds and feeling a bit poorly. I am a bit scared of high winds, as I live in an area with loads of trees β pretty much ever street is tree lined (which is lovely, normally), and other routes involve woodland and tree-heavy parks. I am scared of branches clocking me on the head!
I have just 5 weeks left before my Sept HM and today, for the first time, started to have doubts. I know I am being a bit daft, but having lost a week due to foot pain, and now skipping a run because of gales/feeling a bit under the weather, I am worrying a bit. But β this too will pass. (I imagine!) I will be okay if I only get to 18k in training, right?
Going great at the moment! Running beyond the 21k and including hill work has me overflowing with confidence! I still need to work on pace but joining the running club on their 10 mile outing this morning has helped with that.
After some hamstring issues early in the week, I've eased back a bit but that's settled down now so it's onwards and, hopefully, upwards for me!
Ok, my mojo got lost somewhere in a Welsh hillside after I got home last week. Iβm hoping to drag it out, dust it off and make sure it knows itβs place over the next week or so. I have rejigged my plan so it covers my holiday weeks a little more gently and adds an extra month to early November.
We did parkrun and the monthly bacon run on Saturday, so that was 10k, strength on Sunday and an easy 5k yesterday. Why do I feel Iβve done nothing then??? Definitely need a race to feel some achievement I think (not long now though).
Wednesday Iβm hoping to squeeze 17k in before we pack for our annual music festival. This is where my mojo is going to be problematic again... Iβve put down Strength for Thursday as it will be schlepping stuff backwards and forwards from the car to the campsite numerous times and then putting everything up. Friday is cross training as thereβll be lots of walking and jumping about to some (hopefully) excellent music. Then Saturday, weβre bringing our trail shoes in the hope of doing 5k around the campsite...you never know it might happen π
Iβm struggling a bit as Iβm sort of freelancing ...due to downloading and printing your plan and itβs come out about 2βx3β in size. I tried blowing it up but then itβs blurry and I canβt read it. Iβm just trying to do a little longer each week on my long runs, keep a fairly decent distance on the shorter 2 runs and doing Strength and Flexibilty stuff in between it all.
Thanks -managed to print that now. Not sure where I fit in on it - Iβm gonna slot myself in around week 10, having done 18k,I think. No actual race in my sights as yet just seeing what I can do.
