I entered the Great South Run on the understanding that if itβs gale force winds or pouring rain I wonβt do it! It was bad enough cheering people on in those conditions. Itβs on 20 October. I will joined by others but will let them respond individually. πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Iβm doing the 10k at Barry Island this Sunday (4th August). I am so not ready, I need all the support I can get!! My sister and I are running this together (well, weβll start together then hopefully weβll find each other again at the end!) in the day that would have been our mumβs birthday if she was still with us. If Mum can actually see us she will be confused but proud I am sure, since we were both very overweight and unfit last time she saw us!
I'm doing a 10km in York on Sunday 4 August - part of the Asda/Jane Tomlinson charity trust - part of my training for the Great East run (half marathon) on 22 September!! Not sure I am ready for either but am going to try. xx
Itβs certainly more hilly than Victoria Park!π³ By then of course Iβll be running like cross between a gazelle and a mountain goat, having completed the Bournemouth HM 3 weeks previouslyππ€
Well Iβve got the Cardiff HM on the 6th October. We are away for two weeks plus 8-22 Sept in Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Berlin. Anyone know some safe runs for me on my own in theses cities, so I donβt loose all momentum?? Thanks Candy
It might be worth making a separate post to ask about the city runs, although I'm not promising anything π Also, have a read of this article - it's a bit old, but could be helpful!
Really good. Only entered the 5k as it is always hotter over there and finished midfield. Was caught in a bottlneck at the start and for the first K there were people passing me, then they all ran out of puff! From 2k to the end I passed 3 times what passed me and felt like I had gas in the tank at the end. Several events coming up if you want to join me!
Well done, I did think of you as I was going home! Iβm coming along quietly here, slow but steady. Iβm trying to complete my 60 minutes. My time for 5 k is around 43 to 45 minutes, so very slow but thatβs including a big hill! Itβs all hills here on the west coast. Back in Cyprus mid September. Keep on running!
Ooh jealous! I love the look of Kew gardens 10k. I'm away this year (not that I could do it anyway as it turns out), but I've got a reminder in my calendar to sign up for it next year and I'll just have to adjust my Canada trip date to fit it π
Hi Abi. Not sure if I already noted this somewhere but I have my first full, the Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon on Oct 20. torontowaterfrontmarathon.com/
Hi roseabi, I wonder if you could give me a shout-out for the Severn Bridge 10k on August 25th? Iβve been looking forward to this one since I first ran 10k in November last year, and it was first on my list to enter. I canβt wait! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Iβm also entered in the Great South Run in October like several others on here, so could you add me to that list? Again, I canβt wait! πππ Thanks! β€οΈ
Exciting times πππ I have added your race to our list xx
Have you come across our Half Marathon Group? It's called "October" but it is basically aiming at Autumn races, and we do have quite a few people running September half marathons. Take a look! This is the most recent post (and it's a bit brief), but you can cycle back through all the posts via the link at the bottom:
Hi. Please can you take my name from the events list for this weekend. Unfortunately I will not be able make the Aberdeen 10k event on Sunday 25th August π
Please could you take me off the events list for 1st Sept. I think The 13th Oct has already been deleted, but The Regents Park one is still on there. Thank you
No problem. I think it's the first time I've asked to have them taken down! I do have another event booked, but I'll keep it to myself for now as it's right on the edge of being doable, even if I get the go ahead to start running tomorrow.
Katnap has been persuaded by his AC to take part in the Kenilworth Half Marathon next Sunday, 1st September. He might not put it up so Iβm doing it for him as itβs his first HM race π€π€
Katnap and I are doing the Green Leek Run 10.5k on 13th October, from Barnes Green to Leek Wootton, just south of Coventry. Itβs a multi-terrain run with proceeds going to two local schools π. Using a leek as a baton is optional π
There goes no racing next year out the window....FOMO and all that jazz ππ€·ββοΈπ. It's going to be a fun girl's weekend in beautiful Banff, Alberta....oh ya, and we'll run a HM while we're there.
On December 1, I'll likely have another race to add once registration for BF50 opens π......
Hi roseabi , this is pinned, but I am not sure if it is the correct place to write about my next event...
I got out from the Belfast city half marathon slightly demotivated. to keep the motivation and the training up during the autumn, I have signed up for a 10 K on the 30th of November
it's the Seeley Cup 10K Road Race in Belfast. They don't have a website, but here is the link to their launch site
November 10. Rock & Roll HM in Lima, Peru. It's my first HM and I have been going to physio for knee issues. Haven't run in 3 weeks (and that was a 10K). Completely unprepared and ready to face reality I may have to walk half of it!
We are going to be trying out a different method of collecting this information. I am closing comments on this post now. Please look out for next week's Weekly Chat post!
