Hi all, has anyone any advice about sore feet, especially the ball of the foot.
I managed a 10K beach run last Saturday and was so pleased, well I still am, however it has left me with a sore foot that is uncomfortable to walk on. I was able to do a slow 5K yesterday on a treadmill and will attempt another 5K tomorrow. I’m toying with getting some insoles or do I just rest up a bit more.
It’s a worry as up until the beach run I was doing one long run a week and gradually building up the distance. This is an unexpected set back and I don’t know how long before it affects my ability to do the long runs.
Does anyone use insoles and if so which ones???
I know, there’s a lot of questions and I apologise for that.
Thanks in advance, all advice welcomed.

I use Sorbothane heel insoles.. They do full insoles too. I would recommend them.. Beach running can cause issues...all to do with suction and overstretched running style?
I would think insoles on shoes for running is a must, you sound like me that you ran on shoes which were not new, when I ran my last 5k in my old trainers I got a sore left foot, I decided to go for a gait analysis and buy shoes which the man recommended after the analysis and socks to match.
Since buying proper running shoes my left foot is no longer sore and I have ran my first full 5k Parkrun and ran a PB 5K in my new shoes.
I would advise you not to run until your foot is no longer sore and go and get a gait analysis and buy the recommended shoes that the person advises you to buy, they won't force you to buy the most expensive shoes.
I only ever run with insoles tailored made for me in a sports lab by the people who did my gait analysis and supplied my shoes. Before then l suffered two injuries that could potentially end my running altogether. Since then, for over 2.5 years, I've been injury free. £120 investment in proper insoles paid back in multiple benefits.
Could be the shoes, could be the socks. Might be you just overdid it. You could try a smear of Vaseline on your feet as it helps stop the rub. Maybe your feet are moving about too much in your shoes. A visit to a proper running shop might be in order
I would address the easiest, cheapest options first. See how you get on
I don't use insoles in my running shoes, I do in my work boots. I get sore feet from time to time so when I do I spend some time stretching and massaging my feet. That usually helps 👍🏻😁
Thanks all, I’ve ordered some sorbothane insoles to hopefully help. Up until running on the sand my feet were fine so fingers crossed it’s temporary and that the insoles help. So frustrating, on the plus side the massaging foot spa that has been collecting dust has been resurrected!
