We are going to be trying out a different method of collecting this information. I am closing comments on this post now. Please look out for next week's Weekly Chat post!

Here are some elephants doing a bit of a trail run to introduce our latest event post!
Have your upcoming race published in our Events list so that we can all cheer you along on the day and wave our fancy pom poms! Let us know whatever it is, a 5k, 10k, HM, marathon, ultramarathon... You don't have to be a pachyderm to qualify, or be doing a trail. All events welcome!
Just tell us the name of your event (or events), the date of the event, AND WEBSITE! if there is one, and we will add it to the list.

I think I put the Holymoorside 10k up Sun 12th May
I think I might have told you this one. I canβt find the calendar from your link βΊοΈ Grasmoor 10k Sunday, 2nd June Inaugural trail race (north Derbyshire run club)
Five Pits Half Marathon, Sunday, 30th June Inaugural trail race (same venue as above) Wee Runs
Brampton Brewery Spire 10 (miles). Sunday, 7th July N Derbys run club
For reasons passing understanding I've signed up for the Leicester half again this year. 'cos, well, you just can't get enough of dragging yourself up New Walk (a horrid hill if ever there was one) for the last mile.
I've just entered the Eastbourne Junior Twilight Adult/Child Relay on 1st August with my son.
It's run by the ladies who organise Eastbourne junior parkrun as some weeks have to be cancelled during the summer due to other events. They like to keep the kids running so they organise mid week events with chip timings, finish arches, clocks etc.
It's 1 mile each so I'd better get on with my speedwork πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
I've just registered for the inaugural Bigfoot50 Trail race (the 12.5k distance) on July 14. There isn't a website that I could find, just the registration page. It is a brand new race this year, so everything will be a surprise π
Oh Marco that's not fair! π I mean I know I've been a bit behind with my events but with all the will in the world going back in time would be tough π€£π
Oops..... Just entered another half marathon (maybe I bumped my head when I tripped this morning). After dithering for a few weeks, I found a 20% off code that runs out today, and that just tipped the balance
Thanks! It's the same route I took when I completed my first HM distance in training, so I know it's lovely. BUT that was a BAD run, so I'm hoping to lay that ghost to rest. Not long to wait now to find out if that was a good idea or not
Oops again. The Race Organiser had 20% off too ... so I've entered the Regents Park Summer 10K on 1st September as well. Missed a Regents Park 10K last year as it filled up before I registered.
Lovely, added to the list - along with the extra wee additions and changes! (nothing wee about switching from a half marathon to a marathon, mind... π)
Hiya, can I add a late request for a pompom shake this Sunday 19th in the YMCA Crouch End 10k please? Oooh, and also the Great North Run on September 8th; bit more exciting (daunting) that one..,.
Did the Helsinki City Run HM yesterday (02:08:49) and then duely signed-up to the 16.05.2020 event today at the 32β¬ super early bird price! My daughter who started C25K 3 weeks ago also signed-up! Looking forward to running with her next year, but as a 19 year old she'll no doubt leave me for dust at C25K + 1 year!
Hi Sqkr, got another one for you - Emmer Green 10k, on 22nd Sept. This is organised by a local school, very close to where I live. It's a tiny one, last year there were only 150 runners, and I really enjoyed the informal atmosphere. So am doing it again - this year it will also be a training run for the Cardiff HM.
So in total that'll be 8 races this year - think I've got the bug
The coach has suggested a 10k before the marathon, not being one to miss the opportunity for more bling I've signed up for the Wilne 10K on the 1st September:
I am doing Birkett's Race4Business 3.5 mile run in Chelmsford, Essex, on 12th June... they've suggested we can run in fancy dress, but that is just a step too far right now!
This seems a bit lame compared to others but I fall out of bed into the Stratford Big10k βοΈπ‘ on 8th September and then thereβs the Loughborough Wine Run 10k π· with Katnap , Sandie1961 , Windoze and probably more(!) on 15th September.
Oh yes! It was Sandieβs idea and how could we say no! Itβs through a vineyard and thereβs a complimentary wine tasting included π₯΄ wildwinerun.com/loughboroug... (they havenβt changed the date from the spring run on the website which is a bit confusing but it is 15th September).
Hi Sqkr hi all!!! After a few weeks of low mileage due to work (I know... it's incredible how life goes on without you when you train for a marathon!!!) I decided to come back seriously to try and beat my PB on the HM. To do that I entered 2 races:
10K lagan side (in Ormeau Park in Belfast on the 1st of September 2019)
Then my running club wants to participate to a track and field trophy in Northern Ireland. I will do something this Sunday the 23rd June and something on Sunday the 6th of July
it will be probably long jump, discus and shot (maybe Javelin on the 6th...). I may run 3,000, but I am not sure...
Hi Sqkr, Iβm doing my 2nd official event next weekend, June 30th - the Bristol 10k Race for Life. Itβll be a lot of fun, and Iβm hoping itβs a bit cooler than it is now! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
I've said that I won't do anymore road races but this is special. It is the first race that I trained for - i used C25km to get there. This will be my 3rd year doing it so that must mean that I'm running for 2 and a half years
Thanks Sqkr. I'm thinking of doing my first trail race 10km. i can run trails, I can run 10kms but can I do it in public? What if I fall over a tree root and land on my face? What if they take one look at me and say "are you sure you're a trail runner?" July 21st
You won't but if you do, the traffic will part and it will be ok. Last year someone bent down right at the beginning of the race as we were going through the narrow single track, we all parted around him, it was fine. If you trip, you pick yourself up, brush yourself off, have a little giggle and carry on. Traffic jams, tripping are all part of it. When I ran the trail race that was away last year, as we ran into the first forested area, I smacked my head on a low lying tree branch - I'm not used to to trees where I run normally π. I grabbed my hat that was knocked off my head, my face got redder than it should've in the first km, and I carried on, ooops, giggling away. It'll all be ok. You just have to go with the flow and take what the trail gives you. Place yourself in the pack near where you should be based on other year's times and how fast you think you'll run it. If you are stuck behind someone on a single track, once you find a spot you can pass, just call out passing on the left (or right) and carry on. If you hear someone behind you that wants to pass, move over a bit if you safely can. But don't fret it. There are wider spots coming up that are perfect for passing (and getting passed), just enjoy the scenery, watch your footing and have fun π.
Ouch! That is great advice thanks. I think I will run the track myself before the race to give me an idea of how long I'll take. I'll stay near the back but not at the very back. There will be some very good ultra runners and maybe some more like myself .
First the Alcester 10k on 6th October alcester10k.com i think the organiser is raceways events.
Second the Rugby HM on the 27th October as a bit of a Birthday treat as it's mine on the 31st ( 21 again and again and again etc etc etc etc) theraceorganiser.com
After that gentle lolloping around over the Winter.
Hi, I've just signed up to Chelmsford 10k on 17th November - chelmsfordathleticsclub.hit... - bridging the gap between Maldon Half last week, and Brentwood Half training from December...
