Not such a busy race roster as last week, but we do have one more of Abi's Half Marathon plan graduates to come! I've got that badge polished and ready to go ππ
Thanks Irish-John, the route doesnβt go past the town hall but Iβll be passing Vickyβs statue on the way to lunch, so Iβll give her a wave then. π
I miss Croydon. I enjoyed living there for a while in the 2000s. I grabbed a few brief hours there on the way to Gatwick a few years ago but was shocked to see how many small shops and businesses were gone, and the Whitfield centre looking very neglected. However, I've been told that a huge revival is well under way.
One thing for sure though - it was always, over the space of the twenty years or so I was either in or just passing through, somehow very reassuring to see Vicky at her ease and unchanged
Hi John, itβs a bit of a ghost town now unless you like bookmakers and charity shops.π³ Westfield are supposed to be building a new shopping centre to replace the Whitgift, but only time will tell how that goes!π€
In the meantime the town will no doubt stagger along.
Iβll post on here tomorrow to let you know how I got onππ€
Heck - even better, I just might be able to buy you a beer in the Porter and Sorter in October or November I'm hoping to get a trip in to London/Sussex around then
Sounds great John. The Porter & Sorter is still there. Thereβs a 50 storey building going up opposite East Croydon station, so I doubt youβll recognise the place!π³π€£
