4 weeks is plenty of time to test new shoes. In my experience most running shoes can be worn straight out of the box, but I will wear them around the house for a day first to check for any fundamental problems. If they seem fine I'll take them out for a decent long run the next day. That said, I am not prone to blisters - if you suffer from them a little more caution would be sensible. Make sure you have run 13.1 in the new shoes - or as close to that as your plan allows. Keep hold of the old ones in case you have any problems.

Why do you think you need new ones, btw?

Ouch 😒 Do eccentric heel drops!

No, I'm away that weekend anyway, but I'm concentrating on the Hastings Half in March 😊

I've bought 3 pairs of Asics and they've all felt 100% exactly the same. Had no problems running straight away in each pair of brand new ones without a trial walkabout. I don't get blisters though. Maybe if you stick with the same brand and model then you wilk be ok.

I agree with everyone else, that's loads of time, especially if you're going for a similar model. I used my newest pair straight out the box in an event because I accidentally left my old ones at work, they were super comfy, no bother. It's not advisable to do that of course, but just to echo others' experience that running shoes don't seem to take much, if any, breaking in. Four weeks will give you loads of time to test them out.
