β As if that wasn't too gorgeous already, we've only got the "HM Hotties" aliboo70 and Hidden slam-dunking the Southampton Half Marathon!! KICK ASS!! TAKE NAMES!!!!
β Oh, and then there's "a few people" doing some marathon up in London. Give it all you've got left for C3PO , JohnTheHulk , John_W , Joruss , and roseabi (yes, me again, hi! ) IN THE LONDON MARATHON!!!!!!
Oh thanks roseabi !!! That has made me smile amongst feeling stressed (not cos of HM, general life stuff π) HM hottie!! Haha! Love it!! All the best to everyone running, and you doing two marathons in 2weeks is totally brilliant!! π
Woooow - I am shaking the pompoms like mad! Good luck to everyone of those lovely people! When the going gets tough, try to remember to be happy that you are able to run that far. Enjoy what your body is able to do!
If I am awfully quiet on this forum at the moment, it is because I am still battling with my injury - a painful right groin/buttock perhaps caused by a tight piriformis (caused by what??).
Sorry to hear that iben πwe miss you hope you get it all sorted soon. No words can be much of a consolation when injury strikes but sending you a big hug xxx Oldfloss will be pleased to see you name popping up!
Thank you so much Oldfloss, I need all the empathy I can get. In 4 days I have been on the IC for FIVE months!! I am devastated and depressed! Two doctors and three physios specialised in sports injuries are involved and nobody seems to know what to do. I am so frustrated I could shout at them. And they are all doing their best, I'm sure.
My trapped nerve obviously is very close to the piriformis muscle.. my physio said the NHS exercises I was doing were good and I will PM a link that Rignold gave me... it was almost a miracle cure!
That was a like for your good wishes and your pompom waving. I don't like the fact that you are still on the IC at all - that's awful It must be really depressing for you. I hope Floss's exercise helps xx
I came specifically to this forum to see how you were! I suddenly realised I hadn't seen you post for a while. Glad you are still with us, even though on the IC.
Very best wishes for a full and complete and fast recovery to one of my first friends and constant inspirations. XXX
π Thank you John. I hope to return soon. Some of my runner-friends tell me that being on the IC is part of becoming a real runner. βYou donβt know what it means to you until you have had to do without it for a whileβ True! Iβm a runner! No doubt about it.
Good luck everyone! Hopefully everyone else is chilling out and not like a cat on a hot tin roof (me)!! Weather is looking better and we have some water sprinklers! Will it look odd if I run forwards and backwards numerous times through these π€
Instead of getting out for a run I stood in the garden waving frantically as my mother was on scenic flight overhead so I have practiced well for cheering on this weekend's forum runners (also seem to have spent a lot of money (for me) on sponsoring London marathon runners for charities special to me who don't get much publicity and a neighbour)
But an especially shout out to Anniemurph and her new shoes on the Longhorn. You take good care of her misswobble
Thank you! My coffee&cake shoes Irritatingly, all the chat on the SBR events FB page says it's going to be really dry and that road shoes are all that's needed, but I have tested them now on roads and they feel fairly comfortable, although stiffer than my Cliftons. But I will wear them!
Yeah, what an irony! Can't say I like the sound of 'stiff' that's my problem with my Cascadias (well, that and the fact they now make my heels bleed on every outing) I hope you have a really enjoyable run and don't do yourself a mischief.
Thank you, I'm planning to take it really easy anyway. The nice thing is that because there are incredible people doing the ultra on the same route it doesn't matter if it takes me two hours It will be interesting to see how the shoes are on uneven ground. Possibly I should not wait to find this out until a 10k circular route, but hey...
Bugger about your Cascadias. Has this just started? How odd. Have you had them for long - as in, can you justify retiring them now?
There's no way I could have done the HM with 6 weeks out - I don' even know if I'll make the 10k Yes I will - think of that bling!!! The nice thing is that even if I walk it there will still be ultra-ers out and about so I'll have company
I know - get that roseabi girl! I couldn't even do two 5ks one after t'other
Busy day. Good luck to you all, sure you will all be fab. Can't make it into town to watch on Sunday but am looking forward to hearing everyone's reports.
good luck all, i am sure you will all smash it and it will be all wonderful. Detention for anyone not posting medal photos and race reports! And take it easy with the weather too!
I'm doing the Beirut women's 10k tomorrow and am really unprepared having not done much running this year :/
I'm aiming for slow with a friend, temperatures are decreasing so hopefully there will be cloud cover and at 7am it should be in the high teens rather than too scorching hot. The forecast for today says "Blowing dust and showers" so I'm hoping the showers bring the dust down and it doesn't stay blowing around tomorrow as it's very difficult running or breathing at all in a dust storm!
We've had a downpour so hopefully the dust has come down... problem with that is probably going to be impossible to see out of my windscreen in the morning and there's no point in cleaning it now if it rains again during the night. And I need to leave at 6. Ho hum!! Better than running in dust!
Thanks for the good wishes. I had been meaning to get in touch about trying to meet up, but the trip has been pretty busy so far.
If anybodyβs at the expo today, Iβll be there until about 12:30. Lady in green with hubby and daughter in braids, although hubby might sit and work. Or you can find me at the back of the red pen with a Tommyβs vest and Norwegian flags on my sleeves.
