I *did* say it probably wasn't my last post this week...
I posted this on FB on Saturday morning....
[BACKGROUND: I've got an Achilles injury - my left - a smal tear - which came about 4.5 weeks ago after a training run that ended at a much quicker pace than it should have done in hindsight. It was and the end of a week that began with my fastest HM at Wrexham . I should have stuck to easy running for the rest of the week ]

So there we are... my final 2018 London Marathon training run. It wasn't meant to be the final one, but with the Achilles that's how it has to be.
The plan was for a maximum of 12 miles but as I was ending my 4th lap of the Birkenhead parkrun (normally 3x 1mile laps) I decided to stop.... 9.6 miles was enough and the Achilles was sore. Enough. And I made the decision NOT to run on Tuesday but to give the injury a full 7 days rest. But not the heart or lungs... I'll do a bit more in the gym this week on the rower and cross-trainer. But probably nothing after Wednesday.
It's been fun folks - obviously with its ups and downs... I've had some great runs, most notably the 3 Half Marathons which I've enjoyed.
It's frustrating that this Achilles has dimmed my excitement of running London somewhat, but it is what it is. It's going to be a great day out regardless. 3h:30 is beyond reach now... so let's see what happens
