For the first time in months I did my longest run yesturday, of 8 miles in the woods. I've had to cut my running right back due to a few health issues but I'm determined I will be training for a marathon next year.
It felt so good to be out in the woods again and see the changes on the path and the trees. Even the gunshots and yells from paintballing ( which usually really pi$$ me off) made me smile. I also don't think the hills ever get any easier, but on reflection I do think it's a challenging route and as I build up again I'm going to throw in some longer runs on flat routes on the cycle path.
I found the last 2 miles tough and realised just how far I need to go to get back to where I was.
On another note I'm up to 270 days on my runstreak. Whilst that's probably mad, I feel a real sense of achievement and I aim to keep this routine for life if I can!! Finding a way to fit a little run in my day has been challenging but it's often a mile, and I go very slowly, and I always feel better after having been outdoors etc...
So watch this space, I'll be properly panthering the longer runs soon and working up to a Spring marathon by the sea π
By the way, I so love reading all your race reports and seeing how well you are doing, you guys are all amazing π

And it's all big thanks to you ju ju ,with all the encouragement and great post you give us all.
Brilliant post by the way and lovely picture. This reminds me of the Forest of Dean that I sometimes drive out to for a flat run occasionally
Of course the colours are so beautiful this time of year. My favourite time I have to say. I'm not a very summery bird I'm afraid ,but when the winter comes there's no stopping me.
Being northern and of course from "beyond the wall"originally ( game of thrones) I just prefer the winter ha! ha!
Oooh that path is so tempting, it says "follow me" πββοΈ The hills and undulations are so good for you though so keep going with them. I find flat is dull, plus it pulls on the Achilles more π
I think your having a short, slow run each day is lovely. It's a real treat after the working day, plus you have to do all the domestic stuff too. I think it must help you do all these things with more gusto as you're made chirpier by your run.
A spring marathon sounds lovely. "Sounds" π Rolls off the tongue so easily doesn't it. Still, it would give impetus to your winter running π
By the way Ju, come in close cos I don't want to shout, my marathon is on! ππ
Good to hear you are getting back to where you want to be Juju. I too have had health issues and at last feel I am on my way back! Congratulations on that runstreak too! 270 days is VERY impressive.π
270days just imagine what you could do in 270days, I cant but I am sure you can. its a great achievement and keep it going and 8 miles in the woods is great! There are still spaces for beachy head marathon in a couple of weeks
Great to hear you're enjoying the trails again Ju-ju. You're our trail guru! And while you've reduced volume, you clearly still have what it takes (with your long streak), so you'll be back in shape for that spring marathon wihtout too much trouble, I'm sure.
Good news that the panther is back in the woods and for a long run π Brilliant! So lovely in the woods in Autumn, I just love the colours and changing scenery. πππ You will soon be back to full speed no doubt π
