Okay, so this is the announcement I promised. I had several doubts after last Sunday's disastrous Yorkshire marathon , but heck, you only live once and people have sponsored me on the basis that I'd do this. So yesterday I booked my flight. There's no going back now!

The final frontier!
You're going to run it at the end of this month?! Wow, there's no holding you back Pam, that is very, very, very impressive! I don't know many people half your age who would attempt two marathons in a month. Wow! Huge kudos to you, and I hope you smash that target!!
First I was impressed in general, then I read Tomas' comment and had to double check. Wow! Twice in one month! Words almost fail me, but I think you can do it. Amazing!
Steps back in awe....
Very best wishes for the next one - I guessed it would happen, just not so soon. You are amazing.
Wow Pam, what an amazing person you are, I have no words....

Two marathons in a month? At the other end of the world? I am well impressed! Are there grandchildren over there aswell to encourage you?
Wow TT That's amazing! You have gone up even higher in my list of admirable people! - ππxxx
That's great and you only live once, you be signing up for an ultra next
Wow, you don't do things by halves! Awesome
I am panicking over one - absolutely in awe of you and have no doubt whatsoever you will do it - you are amazing and inspirational!
You are amazing, and that is sooooo exciting!! Do look after yourself in the interim and take care of your joints etc ... π
Thanks Ju-ju. I think i might write a day to day blog in these last two weeks before Auckland.I am a bit in the dark as to what to do to prepare myself for back to back marathons so it might help me structure it better if I have to write it down!
Whow! Massive respect for you Nanny Pam! ( have just taken a peek at your site) you look so happy and fit and not even tired!πππ
So for some one who has not long achieved a meagre 10k compared to your great achievements, have you any advice for this nearly 60 year old who loves running, wishes they could be a bit more fitter although I know I'll never be a Paula Radcliffe hee! hee! .π©π©
I am already entering some races next year, ran in two this year and run 3 times a week.
So what's your secret please!!π€
Oh Peggy. Thank you. There's no secret to what I do except mind over matter and constant repetition of the Ironman credo (as hammered into me by my son) 'Anything is possible'. I am not a natural athlete by any means. Just sheer cussedness keeps me going, plus meeting other people even older than me, who follow the same star. We are all very ordinary people but with out of the ordinary dreams!
As for advice. Find a gentle plan, suitable for your age and follow it with the discipline we used to learn at school in the good old days!
