Hi everybody,

Please feel free to share your runs here and chat about how it's all going,

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If youre a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy week,

Juju, RFC and Pops

I'm halfway through my five week "get gently back up to distance"-phase after the marathon 3 weeks ago. Thoroughly enjoying going out for runs that don't all take multiple hours and enjoy coming home un-knackered.

I've started to spend 20% of my weekly running time on speed work. So far I'm sticking to 200 meter intervals because they're over and done with so quickly. In a couple of weeks I will start to do 400 meters and also add some threshold runs.

And last week's funny - or not so funny - story: Saturday I somehow managed to drop my running belt. Never happened before, but best as I was jogging along it feel from my hips to the ground. I stopped, put it back on and jogged on. It wasn't until I came back home 45 minutes later I realised that my house door key - the one I alway put in a stretch pocket on the belt - was missing. Her Ladyship wasn't impressed, and she kindly (!) took it upon herself to explain in some detail what she thought of the way I take care of the house key.

All I can say is thank goodness for GPS traces on Garmin Connect. The spot where I stopped to put the belt back on showed up clearly as a drop in pace, so after a quick shower I took the car to go searching. And surprise surprise, the key was right at the side of the road exactly where the map had predicted it. So it all ended well.

I have since had to make a concession and agree to put the key in a zipped pocket in the future.

Wow, nice use of the GPS trace - whew!

It's good to hear you're enjoying your running :)

Wow what a great story re the key!!!! I'm always dreading that happening, I'm interested to hear about how the speed work has impacted....

I'd like to say that the speed work has resulted in immediate gains, but truth be told, the only impact so far is that I can make pretty pace-graphs that looks like Norman castle walls ;-)

I live in dread of doing that, well done for finding it again. Good luck with the recovery.

I agree. Great use of technology to find your key.

Me too! It's the only thing I generally take with me but to lose it would mean breaking back into my own house 😮

So pleased you found it 😃

Sounds great, and only a few weeks to go still. Do you have a target time, or are you just going to take it as it comes and enjoy the day?

I'm just back from a 10K run. Not my best pace, but not too bad considering I had to take to my bed early yesterday due to a bout of dizziness that just wouldn't go away. I fell asleep quite early and woke up mostly fine today, but didn't dare go for my planned run in the forest in case something went wrong. I'm chalking the dizziness to exhaustion. Not from work, mind you. Just from all the different events we had scheduled last week.

The weather has finally cleared up a bit today, and the views were glorious. My daughter wants to go for a run with me on Friday, so if the weather's on our side, I'll take her to a beach 3K away, we can splash in the water, then run home again.

Sounds like a wonderful running event with your daughter. Hope the weather cooperates. And I hope the dizziness is a one-off.

I hope you are feeling better?

No more dizziness, thanks, but I've suddenly come down with a cold and now my voice seems to have gone as well. It's really strange - no colds for years, then 2 in 2 months. I've managed some running anyway, as my training plan only had a couple of short runs scheduled, including the run to the beach. I also took my children on a nice 5km hike yesterday. I'd planned a much longer hike, but decided to be sensible and listen to my body. I didn't want to risk collapsing from fatigue deep into the forest. 😷😉

I will have a time to beat, e.g. To improve on last year. I was running on the back of a calf thing last year so was a bit unfit, having not run at all for three weeks leading up to the race

This year I hope to be fit and raring to go. It's a hard race though as there are hills involved again.

1:35 last year, just checked
