your be fine, what works for most people is breaking it down into chunks, think of as only 3 miles, then once you done that you can beat the last 3 miles you just did as your warmed up and ready to go and then boom half way. This is how i was told to do long distances is to break into little chunks.

It was OK actually.
Feeling a little achy now but at least I know that I can do the half marathon distance. Although there are 2 huge hills in the HM

Well done - that must be a huge psychological hurdle to cross Hills in a HM ? - whoever planned that should be fired !!
