Hi fellow sufferers. I had my third injection to Thursday. The first two were fine and the usual 24 hours of soreness. This injection has been different with no soreness and eye feels tender especially when I press lightly on the eyelid. Not sure if I should phone department or is this normal?

I had my last injection on Thursday too. This morning my eye has a slightly bruised feeling but v minor. I am not aware of any discomfort unless I rub the eyelid. It happens in my case on occasion, I have had 60 shots and so I am pretty well aware of any abnormalities in sensation.

If you find it painful as opposed to just a noticable sensation I would certainly call the clinic for their advice.

Hello, Wow!!! 60 injections? How are you doing? Have your visual acuities remained fairly stable? How often do you get injection?

in reply toBlessedeyes0511

Hi My vision fluctuated with 6 weekly shots of Avastin falling over a period of 3yrs from approx 20/60 to 20/180. After a change to Lucentis at 4 week intervals it has now returned to 20/60. This is the best I can expect due to radiation damage. The oedema has reduced to zero but failure to stick to the 4 week régime means that it grows again.

I'm Glad that your vision has responded fairly well to Lucentis. I'm at a similar place and requiring monthly injections of Eylea. We tried to increase the intervals to every five weeks but it didn't work. Happy Holidays!!!

Hi, as rennatk says, if it turns to pain call the clinic. I've found the aftereffects vary greatly , also if different people do the inj, some are more heavy handed than others lol x Best of luck going forward x

Hello GolfLady45,

I am sorry to read of the discomfort you are experiencing after your 3rd injection, although it is helpful that you know how it should feel after 2 trouble-free experiences initially.

Here at the Macular Society we have a Fact Sheet on our website about pain following injections, and some other helpful related information:

macularsociety.org/sites/de...

Sometimes pain or discomfort may be due to sensitivity or allergy to the preparatory cleaning solutions, or anaesthetic, and these can increase with subsequent encounters. It could also be due to a scratch on the cornea or soft tissue damage due to rubbing the eye. It is usually recommended that you contact the Eye Clinic if you have severe pain after an injection, or pain that develops more than 24hrs after an injection. However, if you are concerned about it, it is getting worse or not resolving it would be advisable to contact your clinic.

Wishing you well with your ongoing treatment, and do contact us if you want further information or would be interested in joining the Macular Society. Ring us on the Helpline below

Thank you for link, as i have never had this before (as i mentioned it happened after blue covering was removed with so much force it took my eyelashes and some skin) so i associated it with that. as eye worsened one doctor gave me a prescription for low dose antibiotics but unfortunately it wasnt compatable with mexotextrate ...the kind pharmacist rang the doc to explain and was told to forget it. i think if the time and care was taken for alternative it would have cleared up quicker. i saw an ophthalmic specialist today who confirmed it was Bletharitis but was almost gone so not to worry......all id like to know is , was it caused by the blue covering...or the rubber eye opener ..but nobody will answer me ..but thanks for the reply and link x

I would change Doctors asap. I was an Ophthalmic Tech for years. The Ophthalmologist should be the one diagnosing Blepharitis. Not a GP

Dear golflady45 it's so scary and difficult to know what to do! I would call hospital or go there if still painful but hopefully it's settled down now. Please keep us informed what happened hugs from a fellow sufferer 💜 Squinty xx
