I have had black cloud shaped discs in the days following an injection but they disappear after a day or two.
You don't say if you're having treatment for an eye condition? If so ring your clinic for advice as they will know what's normal for what you have. If not, go to an optician or your gp who can refer you if necessary. If you feel its bad and you don't want to wait for an appt then a referral you could go to a&e where the on call ophthalmologist can advise. Hope you get sorted.
I’m only taking areds, my retina doctor wants me to have an mri, she sent information to my GP and to my surprise he said she’s a doctor if she wants a mri she can order it, it’s been a month now and I still have not got the mri, I feel this is childish on my gp’s part, his reaction to me having ocular migraines was oh I get those too!
You can see flashing lights with something called posterior vitreous detachment which is very common as we get older. As eyesright has just said you haven't explained if you are having any eye treatment or your eye history. Best to go see your optician and get it checked out.
Best of luck to you.
Yes I’m seeing a retina specialist now, she wants me to have an mri, however my gp is Getting crabby in his old age, and said if she wants one let her order it!!
You it seems need an appointment with an ophthalmologist to have everything checked.

There was a discussion about this a week or so ago and again a few months ago, so it seems quite common. I've had these for a couple of years now, they haven't got any worse and sometimes hardly show, but at other times are dense black blobs with a jagged edge or two half moons face to face. I get the impression they are worse on bright sunny days. I find if I'm in a bright room or in the sun if I look in a dark cupboard or go into strong shade it just looks black. I often have to use a torch looking into dark places at home.
I'm not having any eye treatment but do take quite a lot of other medication. I'm 75 and at a recent visit to the optician I was told my eyes were like a 55 to 60 year old I easily read the smallest print on the sample texts. However I have slight cataracts in both eyes and after diabetic eye screening the results showed some deterioration but not seriously so.
I mentioned these blobs to the eye clinic and they couldn't offer an explanation.
Hello Missmoms57 - I have dry AMD and am taking AREDS2 formula. I have had these black discs with ragged edges from time to time for a couple of years now, Quite dense, and only at night - they fade away with light - and not all that often. Or grey and much less dense, that also fade away with light. In both eyes at the same time. No-one seems to have a clue why. They just seem another symptom of this unfortunate condition - I'm 86, by the way, and have had noticeable problems with my left eye for 10 years, and my right eye for 2 years now.
